Hailee disappeared with Ava once we walked into the house. We followed Kade upstairs where the girls should be. We heard girls chatting excitedly inside one of the rooms. Kade approached the door and knocked.
Hailee opened the door just enough to peer out. "You can't come in."
Kade smirked and nodded at Kaleb and I. "I need swim suites for these two."
We heard a drawer open and close then Morgan shoved her arm out holding a couple of swim trunks.
Kade scoffed. "Thanks."
He passed the swim trunks to us and we ducked into one of the guest rooms to change.
We changed in silence just thinking about our talk with Ava. My heart was heavy with anguish. We failed her. We failed to be good mates for her before we even started.
I dumped my clothes on the bed with a sigh. Kaleb rubbed at the back of his neck mirroring my irritation. Being the older brother by a few minutes, I attempted to change the mood.
"This is a pool party. Not a pity party." Kaleb rolled his eyes at my words.
He still seemed down so I tried again. "Want to see Ava in a swim suit?"
Kaleb smiled goofily then chuckled. "Wouldn't miss it."
We made our way through the throng of people filling the house to the brim. Girls holding red solo cups would brush up against us in an attempt to get our attention. But we were on a fucking mission as we headed out the pool.
The backyard was just as crowded as the inside of the house. Jacob nodded to us from the BBQ. Kade stood next to him. Their gazes kept slipping from the meat to the pool.
