Chapter 9: The final answer

"Hey-" Alan paused when he saw Claire. "-Claire and Maggie. Can you.... Step aside for a second, Claire. I have something I want to say to Maggie..." "I will be right here, and I will not step aside. Tell me what you want to tell Maggie." Claire said, bravely. "But it's personal and private. Not something for you to butt in." Alan said, harshly. "Um... What did you want to say to me?" I asked, cutting in to their conversation. "I can't tell you now, Maggie. Your BFF is here, and I can't tell you if SHE's here." "But... " I said. "Claire... Can you... Just..." "Just what?" Claire asked. "Oh..." I whispered something in her ear, and she nodded. "Well... If that's the case... Then I will step aside." She walked away and Alan sighed with relief. "Now... For that thing that I want to tell you..." He began. "Did you finish thinking yet?" "Um... Not yet." "Can you decide it now? I can't stop thinking about you. And your answer to that." He asked. "I just can't wait for the next Thursday for your answer."

"Um..." I know I have to do this... So it's time to put his wondering and questioning about my answer to an end. "Ok... I'm sorry.." His smile turns to an frown. "I have to say no that that question. I.. Don't like you. Even if you do, I still can't put all my heart into loving a guy that is my BFF's ex-boyfriend." I'm sure his heart sank when he heard that. "Wha..? This can't be real.... " he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "Sorry, Alan. I just.. Have another guy I like." I said, feeling sorry for him. "That's OK..." He said, then walked away in complete sadness.....
