That night the two teenagers lay in each others arms. Both minds swirling with thoughts they wished to say, but both too scared to speak them, as they knew when they did reality would hit them and everything would end soon.
Johnathan decided to take the leap, "Kenz.."
Said girl hummed in response.
"Are we.. going to be okay?" Johnathan asked, stroking the girls hair, calming both their nerves of the arising topic.
"Yeah, why wouldn't we?" Mackenzie replied, looking up at the boy slightly smiling. The smile hiding her own worries behind the mask of calmness.
"I mean, like we've kissed and you know I like you, so i was wondering if.." Johnathan said before Mackenzie cut him off.
"Do you want this?" She asked. "Want us to work?"
"Of course I do, but your gonna be thousands of miles away..how are we gonna see each other?" Johnathan asked, looking down at the girl sadly.
"I promise Johnny, we'll make it work. It doesn't matter how far apart we are," Mackenzie said softly, before giggling, "God that sounded cringey."
"Kenz," Johnathan said, "Do you really think we can make it work?"
"Yes, as long as we both try, we'll be fine," Mackenzie said softly, looking up into the boy's eyes, before leaning up and placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
Johnathan pulled her back in when she pulled away. The two lay there that night in each other's arms, laughing at each other's corny jokes and funny remarks.

Johnathan and Mackenzie slept in the next day, not necessarily sleeping though. They were just lying together, enjoying each other's company, as they did not know when a moment like this would come again.
They could hear the yells of the children downstairs as they were outside playing. The Feders were packing up the car as they were to leave soon.
The two mutually decided to get up for the day of sad goodbyes to come.
Mackenzie threw on another of Jonathan's t-shirts and paired it with a pair of black cycling shorts.

The two made their way downstairs and entered the kitchen, saying their hellos to everyone before exiting out o the porch, where the hammock was placed.
They both lay on it, watching the children skim stones, attempting to see who was the best at it. They watched Keithie try to teach Donna, who succeeded, causing everyone to erupt in laughs and praises.
Roxanne then came down and Donna asked if she could skim stones, Roxanne announced she was the 'best at this' before proceeding to hit Greg in the stomach with a rock by accident.
Roxanne then proceeded to the front door before marching inside, the two curious teenagers followed after her, to see what her determination was about.
"We got a little problem." Roxanne announced t everyone within the house, "I forgot how to skip a rock...Now, I think it's gonna take a couple of days to figure it out. So...I think we better stay."
Mackenzie turned bright-eyed to Johnathan who was already staring back at the girl, before wrapping her arms tightly around him.
"I'm staying, Johnny," Mackenzie cried, into his shoulder, before pulling away and smiling softly up at Johnathan, who was smiling straight back at her with tears welling up in his eyes.
"What do you wanna do today? Anything." Roxanne said to her husband.
"I don't know, you tell me," Lenny replied.
"What was your favorite thing to do when you were 12 and it was sunny?" Roxanne asked.
Lenny pulled a face, "Well, I can't do that." Causing everyone in the room to laugh, as lord knows what he got up to at that age.
He turned his head to Roxanne, as an idea struck him, "maybe a water park?"
"What are we waiting for?" Roxanne asked waving her hands.
"Seriously?" Lenny said, letting out a laugh and turning to the rest of the people in the room, "Let's load up the car, people."
Johnathan and Mackenzie made their way upstairs to get changed and get their belongings to bring to the water park.
Mackenzie went to the bathroom to change and decided on a bikini before pulling Johnathan's shirt and a pair of her shorts back on over it.
She exited the bathroom to be met with a shirtless Johnathan.
"shit sorry, Johnny, I didn't know you were still changing." Mackenzie said blushing, her face a very rosy colour.
"It's alright Kenz, don't worry," Johnathan replied, "You can turn around I'm decent."
The black haired girl turned back around, her face a dark shade of red, ducking her head slightly so Johnathan wouldn't notice her blushing face.
"You like what you see?" Johnathan asked as he walked forward and grabbed her chin with to fingers pointing her head upwards towards him.
"What if I did?" Mackenzie teased, still slightly blushing.
This made Johnathan follow in Mackenzie's path and turn a bright shade of red as well.
Instead of saying anything he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in and before Mackenzie knew it his soft lips were upon hers. She leaned into the kiss and like the first time, she felt a tingle in her lower stomach and felt like fireworks were going off inside.
The two pulled away softly smiling at each other before they heard the shouts from downstairs.
"Kenz, Johnathan, hurry up we're ready to go," Lenny shouted up the stairs.
The two looked at each other before joining hands and making their way downstairs.
