"...the call was coming from inside the house ooo" wailed Luz in her best spooky voice. While the Blight siblings looked at her in confusion not understanding why that story was scary.
It was a stormy night at Blight Manor. Luz, who had come to deliver some of Amity's school books, was now stuck inside, unable to go home until the boiling rain stopped. In order to pass the time the twins had suggested telling scary stories in the living room. This was as much to relieve their boredom as to make sure they kept Luz away from their parents. Their mother was not the biggest Luz fan.
They had all taken turns telling a story at least once when Alador happened to pass by as he made his way to the kitchen for a late-night snack. Upon seeing their father the twins both smiled a devilish smile. It was not often they would get to spend time with him. Most of the time he was busy and the man was not the most social. Not to mention their mother was always around so they made it a point to take advantage of any opportunity they got to catch him alone.
"Hey dad, could you come here for a minute?" called out Emira after her father.
"Hmm, what is it?" Mumbled Alador stepping back into the living room.
"We've been telling scary stories to pass the time," chimed Edric.
"We've all told a story already and now it's your turn. What's the scariest thing you've ever experienced?" asked Emira, giving her father the sweetest smile she could muster.
Alador paused for a moment considering the question before answering "That would be the day Amity was born." He said in his usual monotone voice then turned back around to go into the kitchen.
"Wait what?!" exclaimed Amity looking confused and surprised.
"Hang on dad what do you mean?" pressed Edric while Emira hurried to block her dad from leaving.
Alador showed no emotion but he let a low grumble escape his lips before turning around and going back from where he had come from. The group all looked at each other in confusion. Alador was a strange man but his children knew better than to push too much. While their father did not show it he would get overwhelmed easily which is why their mother did not like them bothering him.
After a few minutes had passed he came back into the living with his wife in tow. She looked as confused as they were.
"Alador, what's this about?" questioned Odalia as she let herself be led by her husband to the living room. She asked the question more out of impulse. She was already used to her husband randomly coming to get her with not so much as a word. The cause would be as simple as a random bug he found interesting to a fire in the lab. No matter the reason he had the same expression so it was always hard to tell what had him worked up.
When they entered the living room she saw her children and the human sitting around a table filled with snacks all staring up at them in confusion. I see this is the reason Alador was acting so strange.
"What did you kids do to your father?" probed Odalia. If she has said it once she has said it a thousand times. They should already know better than to disturb him.
"We only asked him what was the scariest thing he had ever experienced," said Edric giving his mother an innocent smile, completely omitting the part of them pressing him for answers until he ran away. If their mom found out they would all be in big trouble.
