After the proposal the days to graduation seemed to pass in a flash. They had so many deadlines leading up to the date that it only assisted with making time feel like it was moving faster. Graduation was a day that the two had been anticipating with excitement as it marked the start of their new life together. After meeting all of their deadlines it left them with only a week to plan their wedding. Alador saw no point in having a ceremony. He was happy with just getting a marriage certificate from the Emperor's Coven but Odalia insisted. He didn't understand why they had to go through the trouble of a ceremony since they were technically already married.
He had been so confused by Odalia's proposal he thought that they were already married. Part of the marriage involves enacting an everlasting oath with your partner which was the most important part of the ceremony. He was aware that they still needed to get a marriage certificate but that was just a formality. They were already married in the way that mattered and he told her as such.
Odalia had been completely taken off guard by Alador's response. When she proposed she had expected he would reply with a yes or a simple nod but not that they were already married. He was right in that the everlasting oath was part of the marriage ceremony though these days not everyone was willing to do it. Some opted for wearing a visual representation of their marriage without being tied by the oath. Had he enacted the oath as his way to propose to her? That meant that all of this time he thought they were married. Was that the real reason he started sleeping in her room? Because that's what married couples do?
She could not help but laugh. He had never said anything though she should have known better. He had changed so much since that night. Looking back now it should have been obvious that this was how he felt. But there was no point in thinking about that now after all there was a wedding to plan. Whether they were already united or not made no difference she still wanted to have a ceremony so that everyone in the boiling isles would know of their union.
She focused as much time as possible to get things ready for the wedding. Alador's father wanted them out of the house after graduation so that gave them a deadline to work with. Months prior they had survayed several properties for Alador's future workshop and had narrowed their choices down to two possibilities. Out of those two, only one had a space that could be turned into their living courters. Odalia did not waste any time so she contacted the realtor the same day they received the letter to let them know they would be purchasing the property.
Having their living arrangement settled would take a heavy burden off of them. In the meantime, they started packing their things and slowly taking them to their new home. They decided not to take any of the furniture and only take their own personal belongings. By the time the day of graduation came they only had a few bags left to carry which mainly held some of their clothes.
As for their wedding, they decided to make it the day after graduation. They had wanted to make it a small affair but it soon became apparent that even if they invited a few people there were many that were intent on coming with or without an invitation. Fortunately, there were also those that wanted to offer themselves to help with their wedding such as Farris Harlow who insisted on paying for their venue. Over the past few months they had been working closely with him and his company and he wanted to secure his partnership with them. He was also quick to brag about helping such young entrepreneurs which prompted others to want to try and invest in them as well.
All in all the wedding turned out to be a lot bigger than they had anticipated. It somehow ended up becoming the event of the season. If Odalia had to guess she would assume that Harlow had something to do with it. Maybe pulled some strings or maybe whoever was behind the magazine article that got so much attention on them was behind this. She made a mental note to look into this matter further but for now, she just wanted to enjoy the moment. Odalia would have her wedding and as a bonus, she would have the opportunity of making friends with some people in high places.
