The following morning they woke up to chaos. It started with Darius knocking on their front door before sunrise to pick up Alador. This was not part of the plan but Alador could not do much to protest since nobody was aware that he and Odalia were living together and they wanted to keep it that way until they were officially married. Unfortunately, Odalia was unable to help him because a crow came in through her bedroom window and took her way.
"We have a lot to do and very little time to do it. Don't worry I got in contact with Darius and he knows exactly what to do with Alador. For now, we have to focus on getting you ready." Came Lilith's voice from the bird and was now going over the schedule for the day. Odalia could not help but regret having chosen Lilith as her maid of honor. What she would not give for a few more minutes of sleep.
The bird took her to a salon where she would be having her hair and makeup done as well as eating breakfast. While that was going on she could hear Lilith in the background speaking with vendors and the sponsors making sure that everything was going to go flawlessly. When Odalia had asked why she had her doing her hair and makeup so early she replied that it was in case she was not happy with it she would have enough time to change it. She had to hand it to Lilith she really did think of everything. She ended up having her hair done a couple of times before she was satisfied with the final look. By the time they were done, they were exactly on schedule.
Their next destination was to the Clawthorne house so she could put on her dress. Alador had insisted that she used her grom dress for the wedding so she had it cleaned and then gave it to Lilith for safekeeping. Lilith's parent's where not around so it was just Lilith and her left alone to get ready. Through all of this Lilith's scroll never stopped receiving messages making Odalia feel relieved that she was not receiving the messages but also anxious. Why was she receiving so many messages? Was something wrong? Did Darius lose Alador? No, no calm down Odalia everything is fine. Right? She sneaked a peek at Lilith who seemed to be completely calm and collected. Having her around was really comforting. Still, she wished that she was the one handling everything so she would know what was going on.
"Oh you look gorgeous," said Lilith with tears in her eyes. Before she could say anything else an alarm went off on her scroll. "It's time we have to go come on."
Odalia followed behind Lilith as the two made their way outside where a carriage was waiting for them. It was the abomicarriage being driven by an abomination wearing a bowtie and a top hat. The two got inside and started making their way to the venue.
"How are you feeling?" asked Lilith who was sitting next to her. "You don't seem nervous,"
"There's nothing to be nervous about. Today I will be marrying my best friend in front of everyone on the boiling isles." Said Odalia smiling to herself. Ever since she was a little girl she had dreamt of having a big wedding in front of everyone. A lavished event that would be the envy of all that bared witness to it. In her dreams, she always married a rich and powerful individual. Today though she would be marrying someone with no riches and no influence instead she would be marrying the brightest mind on the isles with the brightest future.
Lilith let out a laugh before looking down and getting serious. "Odalia I want to thank you for asking me to be your maid of honor. I know you could have asked anyone but it really does mean a lot to me that you chose me. After what happened to Edalyn a lot of our old classmates started to avoid me. I really didn't mind but these past few weeks have been really fun for me and I hope that we can continue to be friends even after today.
"We have always been friends and we will continue to do so even after today," stated Odalia giving Lilith a sweet smile. Lilith returned her smile feeling reassured.
Of course, she would still be her friend. When they had first met Odalia had seen into Lilith's future. Lilith was not aware of it but someday she would be the head of the emperor's coven. Having someone like that as a friend was well worth the effort.
They soon arrived at the venue and Lilith quickly got out of the carriage to make sure everything was ready. Once she was finished the abomination that had been driving the carriage opened the door for Odalia to get off. The venue was a grand old building usually reserved for high-end events. Harlow must have pulled a lot of strings to reserve this venue in such a short amount of time. It was truly amazing how much he was willing to bet on them from just one of Alador's inventions.
When she entered the building she saw that it was completely filled with people she had never met. She could recognize a few of them who had been at blight night. She also managed to spot principal bump who was already crying his eyes out. All of the guests were standing around in a circle. In the middle was the leader of the Emperor's coven who would be the one performing the ceremony. She had no idea who had been the one to convince them to come to this but she was impressed. Next to them was Alador looking stoic as always but the suit he was wearing made him look completely different. If she didn't know any better she would have mistaken him for a prince. She had to give Darius credit. He did a spectacular job with Alador's outfit.
Alador could not help but feel relieved when he saw Odalia walk into the room. After Darius had taken him away he had given him something to sleep. When he woke up he had new clothes on and his hair had been combed. Ever since Darius had been talking nonstop about something but he hadn't been paying attention. Odalia looked so beautiful. He was happy she had agreed to wear her grom dress. He was ready to tell everyone that she had made it herself.
He watched as she made her way slowly to him. Her eyes were glittering with joy. Even though he had not wanted a ceremony seeing her this happy made it all worth it. Once she reached him the ceremony started. Alador did not hear a single word of what the coven head had said. At that moment he could not stop looking at Odalia. The next thing he knew Odalia's lips were pressed against his and the room erupted into a cacophony of cheers.
The rest of the night was a blur of sounds and faces. It felt like everyone in the room wanted to talk to them at once and it was very overwhelming. Odalia tried her best to keep the attention on her and to try and get them away from people. If she saw he was getting too overwhelmed she would pull him to the dance floor just so they could have a moment of peace. He liked those moments. Gazing into Odalia's eyes made the world fall into silence. All he had to do was focus on her and he would be put at ease.
Once the party was over they got on the abomicarriage and went straight to their new home. Once they arrived he lifted Odalia so that they could go in together. He did not know a lot of things about marriage but he at least knew this much. Their new home was a warehouse with an office space that overlooked the lower floor. They had converted that upper space into their new temporary home. For now, they had invested almost all of their money into this space but they both knew that it would pay off in the long run.
"So Mr. Blight when do you plan on putting me down?" asked Odalia who had her arms around his neck.
"As soon as we get to our new bedroom Mrs. Blight," replied Alador as he started making his way up the long set of stairs. He regretted it halfway through but that's what the book said so he had to comply.
During the ceremony, they got to choose what they would like their married name to be. They had discussed this beforehand and they both agreed that neither one of them wanted to use their family's name. Instead, they decided to create their own name. A name that would define them and their family. A name that they would make sure was would be well known all across the boiling isles.
