The room was decorated head to toe in Halloween madness. Streamers adorned the walls, balloons flew everywhere, and those in the school gym were all in costumes.
Emerald Station had decided to have its first ever Halloween party for the students and faculty alike. Among these students was a young wolf. Wendy felt particularly out of place in her pilot costume. Everyone seemed to wear costumes that would either give others a fright or that matched a close friend of theirs. Even Tails, who wore a scientist costume, could argue that his outfit was spooky in some way. He was next to her cat friend Blossom, who sported a nurse outfit. The two were over by the DJ decks, talking to someone, probably Sonic, who was uniquely dressed as a wolf. Wendy sighed and drank some of the punch served at one of the tables.
For her first party, it seemed kind of boring. Sure, there was plenty to do. She could dance, play games, chat, or even join the costume contest however none of those seemed to pique her interest. She wanted an adventure. It had been so boring lately and, now that she's gotten the hang of her abilities, seeing into the future kept getting less and less interesting. She sighed again and went to grab more punch.
As she poured, Amy came by in a red riding hood costume. "Hey, Wendy?"
"Yeah?" Wendy looked up.
"Have you seen Sonic? He agreed to be the big bad wolf for me. It took a lot of prodding." Amy explained, probably thinking about it now. Wendy did see one of these "prodding" moments. Amy may be more relaxed around Sonic now but she was still quite demanding he dress up as a wolf. Well, Sonic was questioning costume choices anyways.
"Can't say for sure. There are way too many people here dressed up as a wolf." Wendy motioned toward the crowd. There were even some actual wolves there as well as people dressed as them. She even pointed to herself. "He might be somewhere in the crowd. There are quite a lot of people here." Wendy, once again, motioned toward the crowd. There were groups of people clustered all over the gym. For such a large space, so little could be seen with this many mobians.
Amy seemed disheartened, however, this quickly passed as she grabbed Wendy's hand. "Let's go look for him. It'll go by much quicker with the two of us searching."
Wendy put down her punch. "It's not like I'm doing anything at this party anyways." She stated sadly before perking up. "Well, what are we standing around for? Let's find your wolf...er...hedgehog in a wolf costume!"
Amy nodded and the two split off. She went left while Wendy went right. They weaved in and out of people and asked around. Not even Tails, who had a great vantage point from his DJ decks, could tell them where Sonic was. After they seemed to turn the place inside and out, the two returned to the punch table. "Find anything?" Amy huffed as she leaned on her knees in exhaustion.
"No, it's like he just left the party." Wendy replied. She poured some punch for both of them to quench their thirst.
"Sonic would never leave this party! He was the one who set it up anyways! Let's keep looking! He's gotta be here!" Amy pleaded after gulping down the punch.
Wendy took a moment to gaze into the future a bit. She wanted to see if they were wasting their time. After coming back, she sighed. "If we keep trying to search for him here, we'll just keep coming up empty." She revealed. After saying that, she tried to go further. Maybe she could see where Sonic was if they left the gym? When she tried, all she could see was black. She wasn't even able to go very far. "Huh, well that's strange." The wolf mumbled.
Amy looked down, thinking about what else they could do to find Sonic. She twirled her foot a bit before coming up with an idea. "What about your new rewind ability! We'd find Sonic for sure!"
Wendy shook her head. "I can only use that ability on a small scale, besides, even if I could, we'd just disrupt the party with an excursion to the past." Wendy threw her cup away. "Now that I think about it, I was so sure I saw him earlier."
"Where did you see him?"
"Over by the DJ decks I believe."
Wendy regretted saying that. Amy practically dragged her over to the DJ booth, gaining some attention from Silver and Blaze who happened to be nearby. While Amy interrogated Tails, Silver and Blaze confronted Wendy.
"What are you two doing? I've seen you running around here like crazy." Silver asked, dressed in a red and yellow costume. He had a small hat that seemed to rest on his top quill.
"Are you looking for something?" Blaze inquired, looking elegant in her Lunar new year costume. It seemed as though she and Silver decided to do the same thing as Amy and Sonic, dress up in costumes that complimented each other.
Wendy nodded. "Yeah, well, someone actually. Amy was wondering where Sonic was and I'm trying to help her out. He seems to have just disappeared from the party."
"That is curious." Blaze scanned the room.
"I thought those two were fine with each other by now." Silver scratched his head. "Why would Sonic just leave?"
"That's what I want to know." Wendy answered just as Amy returned.
Tails seemed a bit shaken from their talk. Blossom was trying to calm him down a bit. Amy could be quite brutal at times, especially when looking for answers. "Well, Tails and Blossom did see Sonic earlier. They said he went down to the cafeteria to grab some more food."
"Then, that's where we're heading." Wendy responded, already making her way towards the door.
Blaze stopped her. "Mind if we tag along?" She motioned toward herself and Silver.
"Maybe we could help out." Silver continued. "There is an old saying that goes, 'two heads are better than one,' even though there are four of us."
"The more the merrier!" Amy cheerfully replied. The four headed out of the gym and into the school hallways.
