They slowly looked around the cafeteria. After calling for Sonic and basically turning the place over, they decided to look for him in the hallway. As they continued further and further through the station, Sonic seemed more and more like he was nowhere in the building. They had been looking for at least an hour, according to Wendy.
Amy stomped her foot on the ground and threw back her red hood. "I guess it's the same thing with him, even this year!" She huffed. "Why does he always do this?!"
Blaze placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not quite sure if it's his fault. Perhaps he got called away on urgent business while grabbing the food. He does help the principal run this place."
"Maybe you're right," Amy decided, "but I still expect a straight answer out of him!" She shouted, causing Blaze to grab her hand back and shake her head in dismay.
The purple cat was about to say something else to the pink hedgehog when a string got caught under her foot. The four costumed mobians were lifted into the air as a net grabbed them. Wendy tugged at the netting before leaning back into a pout. "Why do you always have to do this Arrow?"
Running out of the shadows came a falcon wearing a top hat. He had on a suit that looked way too nice for him and a magician's wand in his hand. "Hey there Sugar, didn't expect to catch you today."
Wendy just crossed her arms. "Would you just get us down?"
Arrow complied and reached into a locker, presumably his, and revealed a knife. Luckily for him, those types of things were allowed there. Then, he hopped onto his hoverboard and used the knife to cut the rope. He laid back on his hoverboard as Wendy, Silver, Blaze, and Amy plummeted toward the hard ground. Just before they plopped down, Silver used his psychokinesis to softly lower everyone onto their feet.
Blaze smoothed her dress down before scolding Arrow. "Why, might I ask, are you setting up these contraptions at this time of night?"
Arrow yawned, "And why, might I ask, are you four are doing so far away from the party?"
"Guess you got me there." Blaze sighed. "We're-"
Amy cut her off. "We're looking for Sonic. Have you seen him?"
Arrow hopped off his hoverboard and folded it into a compact square before safely placing it into his top hat. "Nope, haven't seen anyone back here except you guys." He looked around the hallway and glanced at the lockers behind them. "You gotta admit, this place is spooky at night. They should have just made it a haunted house party."
Blaze, Silver, and Amy went wide-eyed at that statement. Wendy shook her head and placed her hands onto her staff, which was resting on her tail. Arrow raised an eyebrow and was about to say something when Wendy spoke. "Anyways...Arrow, what exactly are you doing here?" Arrow gave her a look. Wendy shot one back. "Well, Blaze did ask you first."
"Fine, fine, Sugar, I'll give ya that one." Arrow sighed as he reset his net and retied the string trigger. "My buddy Enzo isn't allowed at parties anymore."
"Why yes, last time he showed up to one, it took five of the available staff eight hours to get all the attendees off the ceiling." Blaze recalled. "That was one of the worst dances I'd even been to. Was never able to wear that dress again." She glared at Arrow.
"Well, I guess I should be glad I missed that party." Wendy remarked. She'd much rather not be stuck in one place for very long, especially if that "very long" was eight hours.
As the three conversed, Amy, being a little ways away from the group, looked down the hallway. Arrow was right, the place was kind of creepy at night. Didn't help that most of the lights were turned off to stop the power from shutting down. The gym certainly took up a lot of it with all the lights and music. At least the full moon kept the area bright.
