I have met my husband.

He does not know it yet, he does not know me yet but he is my future husband.

It's nine in the morning and the train isn't as packed, thankfully, and he's sitting right across from me, scrolling through his ipad. This man, my future husband, had to be the most handsome man I had ever seen. His brunette hair was cut into a fade, the top curling, his grey eyes on his ipad, he was in a suit and a long black overcoat thrown on and a grey scarf wrapped around his neck, suede shoes, big watch on his wrist and a takeaway cup of coffee in one hand.

I couldn't stop staring.

Is this what those people in romantic movies felt? Is this love at first sight?

My heart was beating really fast and I just couldn't stop staring. I silently thanked the heavens that I had wrapped my scarf up in face, so it covered my lips, so with just a slight tilt, I could hide behind my scarf while I just stared at him. He had to have known someone was staring at him, because I was doing it so pointedly.

I just couldn't stop it.

I snapped out of it when people got up and began to move around, the train pulling to a stop at the station. My husband looks up and I turned my gaze to my hands, so he wouldn't catch me staring. The last thing I wanted was for him to think I was a creep or something worse. Out of the corner of my eyes, I watched him walk away, sighing when the doors close and the train started moving, pulling me away from my husband.

I sighed.

When the train pulls to a stop at the next station, I got out of it, stuffing my hands into the pockets of my coat as I climbed up the stairs, leading out. The sun was hidden behind the clouds, air cold but not enough for mittens. I stopped at the cafe close to work and joined the cue. Without my hearing aid, I could hardly hear anything around me. When it was my turn to order, the barista smiles at me. She gives me my usual order and I sign, thank you.

The library was quiet and empty when I burst through the doors, lights flashing on my arrival. The desk was empty and my friend and co-worker was nowhere to be found. I contemplated yelling his name but he'd have seen the red light flash.

As I took off my scarf and coat, Desmond appears in front of me, a copy of The Chronicle of Narnia in his hand. Ever since I met my future husband, I have not been able to stop smiling.

"Why are you smiling like a creep?" Desmond signed, fingers moving quickly.

"I met my husband." I signed, practically bouncing on my feet as I do.

"Get the fuck out." Desmond signed, scrunching up his nose. He tries to grab my coffee but I smacked his hand away. Desmond was taller than me, lean and dressed in a white shirt and black pants. His black hair falling into his eyes.
"I'm serious. He's so handsome." I signed, giggling at the dubious expression on his face. He didn't believe me. Well, he didn't have to. This meeting of fate was between my husband and I.

"Did you meet this husband in your sleep?" Desmond signed, reaching forward to ruffle my hair and I glared at him.

"Fuck you."

"Love you too, Bailey." Desmond signed, blowing me a kiss.

I ducked, moving away from the direction Desmond had blown the kiss. Ew. I stuck my tongue out at him, lips parting in shock and my eyes widening when the so-called friend, actually swiped my drink away from me. He takes a gulp of my coffee, a smug expression on his face.

I looked around me, looking for something to throw at him. The lights flash and I looked to the door just as a couple of people walked in. I rummaged through my bag and pulled out my hearing aid, curving it over my ear, turning it on and adjusting the volume. I always have to set my hearing aid to the highest, because that is the only way I could.

I could hear a little bit better and with sign language, I feel like I understand more. I, however, do not like using it for too long as it can give me headaches.

I spent the day placing orders for more books, shipping out the ones that people bought from our online store, directing people to the aisle they needed to go to. Time pass until suddenly it's lunch time, judging by the clock on the table. Desmond appears out of nowhere and I turned off my hearing aid. I didn't need it while being around my friend.

Desmond wraps his arm around my shoulder as we walked down the street, towards the little restaurant we always have lunch at when we are not ordering in at work. It was a hole in the wall restaurant. One you would miss if you were not paying attention.

We take our seat and picked up the menu.

"Today is so slow." Desmond signed, after placing his menu back on the table.

"I think today has been wonderful." I signed, smiling as I thought about my future husband. I wondered if I was ever going to see him again?

"Why? Because you met a man who doesn't know you exist?" Desmond signed and I glared at him again. For the second time today, I was reconsidering this friendship.

Desmond and I have been friends since we were eight. We grew up together, went through the sexuality crisis together. He didn't care that I had to use my fingers to speak to him, he actually thought my hearing aid was cool. He learned sign language and since then he has always been by my side. Twenty years of friendship is enough.

"Just because you haven't found your lover, doesn't mean you should be a dickhead." I signed, tapping my nose twice, the side of my head and chin.

"No matter how much you glare at me, you know that I'm not lying." Desmond signed and I pressed my lips together.

Lunch consisted of avocado egg salad sandwiches for myself and a spicy burrito bowl for Desmond. I had half the mind to come back here after work and get a burrito bowl and their sheet pan Indian-spiced chicken so I could take it home and have it for dinner.

After lunch, we walked back to the library, slowly sipping on our latte. I had one hand wrapped around Desmond arm as we walked. The rest of the shift go by well. Desmond leaves an hour before me and by six o'clock, I had turned off all the lights and electronics before shutting the door. I ended up back at the small restaurant and ordered the dinner. It doesn't take long and soon I was standing at the train station, waiting for the six-fifty train.

I ended up walked all the way to the last train car before I could get a seat, my food on my lap and phone in hand as I scrolled through twitter. I was so out of it that I didn't realize the train had stopped for a bit and then started moving again.

When I looked up, my lips part in shock and for the second time today, I was staring right at my husband.

He looked exactly like he did, this morning. Which, is almost impossible. I didn't need to look in a mirror to know I looked tired. Most of the people wearing work outfit that I had passed on my way to my seat had looked tired as well. But not my husband.

He was so handsome.

I wondered what his name was. Something strong and fierce, like Darth, or Paul. Ohh.

My future husband had his tablet in his hands and was scrolling, just like he was this morning. I wondered what he was doing? Was he scrolling through twitter like I was?

A lady dressed in a white shirt, black pencil skirt and heels sits besides my husband when we get to the net train stop. She was also staring at him and she was so close to him. Ugh. She kept moving her feet, inching it closer to my husband and really, I do not blame him for turning to her. I would do too, if someone kept annoying me like that.

My future husband looked at the lady with this bored expression that almost startled a laugh out of me. She hold her hand out to him and i think she's trying to introduce herself. My future husband looked at her hand and her face before turning back to his ipad like nothing had just happened.

Today was the first day I met my husband and I realized, he might be a little mean.

I love Bailey so much 😂
