We were on a date. In the large yard at Wren's house.
It seems like my husband has decided that he shall always cook for me. Well, when he can because more often than not, I'd rather order Chinese or Thai food and just be a couch potato, maybe watch a series or a kdrama or maybe a movie.
It was sunny but not too hot, you know what I mean.
It's the one sunny day we have gotten and my brain short circuits. Summer was right around the corner. That means the jackets would be gone, thin shirts and maybe I'd even get to see him shirtless. Oh my.
Wren had laid out what had to be the softest blanket on the grass outback, he had handed me a bowl of frozen yogurt topped with fruits and said he would be back out. The yogurt was really good and I scrolled through twitter, laughing at the funny tweets I see and sharing them with Desmond and Wren. Yes, I finally got Wren's twitter handle.
To be completely honest, it was incredible getting to know him like this. We were taking things slow and thankfully, none of his family members have come to look for me at the store. Desmond is really close to asking for a family picture and hiring a security at the entrance of the store, so anyone who looks like Wren's family members would not be allowed in.
I was laughing at a particular video, when the sliding glass door being pushed open. Wren appears with pillows and a large picnic basket. He set the pillows down and I immediately reached for the basket.
Wren slaps my hand away and I pout at him.
"Don't do that." he signed before taking a seat, the picnic basket separating us.
"Don't do what?" I asked, softly giggling at him.
"Don't pout at me. You look so adorable." Wren signed, smiling widely as he stared at me. He reached up, softly stroking my cheeks with his hand. I leaned into the touch, looking right at Wren. Sometimes the air between us changes and I finally think he's going to kiss me.
I really wanted to kiss him so badly.
Wren pulls back and then he is opening the picnic basket and he's pulling out salmon bagel sandwiches, paper plates with sauteed asparagus, he even had spicy tuna on rice cakes in there, there was also dessert. He got apple pie, extra large chocolate cookies and tiny bowls of ice cream.
I let out gasp as I stared at the food that he had unpacked. It was so much but I knew that between the two of us, it would be gone in a flash.
"You made so much."
"I really didn't. I picked up the ice cream but yeah, I made the rest." Wren said, fingers moving surely as he typed, shaking his head at me. They all looked so yummy and I could not believe he had taken his time to make me this much food.
"Are you trying to woo me?" I signed, raising my brow at him and I could see him laugh. I wondered what that sounded like. I tapped my pockets and pulled out the case holding my hearing aid. I looked up at Wren who was watching me.
I raised it up and he was quick to sign.
"Only if you want to. I read that it hurts and gives you a headache." he signed and I almost melted into a puddle. He had even read up on hearing aids. This man was absolutely perfect. Fuck Mark and his lying ass.
It's just us.
"Is it quiet?" I asked and Wren nodded.
I slipped on my hearing aid, tucking it into my ear. When I turned it on, there was this rush of sound. Softer than when walking on the streets, like the winding brushing my ears. I turned to Wren who was watching me, his eyes a little wide, like he didn't know what to do or what to expect. The cutie.
