34: Dawn

Deck and I enter the garage with a change of clothes for Hobbs and Hattie. I pass Hattie her bag while Deck passes Hobbs a shirt, teasing him about the size while Hattie and I watch them with a smile. "Lets get down to business. We got any weapons" Deck asks seriously. "Oh we got weapons" Hobbs replies. He leads us to a wall of wooden spears. "Mama, where's all our guns?" Hobbs asks. "I get rid of them" she answers passionately. "Very noble Mrs Hobbs" Deck says politely with a smile. "We're in serious trouble" he whispers to me and Hattie. "That is an understatement" I whisper back. Mrs Hobbs starts to give a small speech about the guns killing her family and we'll fight with out fists and hearts. We quickly discuss a plan and Hattie leaves to hack the Eteon glove to get Eteon's guns offline when they attack us.

Over the next few hours we all prepare our resources including gas tanks for no mans land and an explosion outside the house and many more. Jonah works on fixing the machine while Hattie hacks the glove. Deck and I walk towards Hattie, "Give us the good news Hat" Deck says. "I'm in, the only thing is I can only block the signal for 6 minutes" she explains. "6 minutes might be all the time we need" I reply with a smile. "Better than a stick in the eye" Deck says. "Which is basically all we've got to fight them with anyway" Hattie replies sarcastically. "Done more with less haven't we" Deck says with a smile and Hattie chuckles. I smile at the two of them getting along and laughing together. Deck and I leave and Deck drags me into an empty room, "You be careful out there, ok?" he tells me. I smile in understanding, "I will, you be careful too" I reply, bringing my hands up to his cheeks. "I will" he says and kisses me before pulling me into a hug. "I love you Dani. So much" he says, kissing my cheek. "I love you so much too Deck" I reply and tighten the hug.

"Jonah, it's almost dawn. They'll be here soon" Hobbs tells Jonah while he does the finishing touches on the machine. "Make it happen now" he orders. "Don't rush me, that's how mistakes are made" Jonah defends. "How long does this process take?" one of Hobbs' brothers asks. "30 minutes" I answer. "And it's 33 till I go viral" Hattie adds. "Look Deck, I think we need to seriously consider option 1" she turns to Deck. "Don't strike a match just yet Hats" he says and I say "We're not going with option one Hattie". Deck starts yelling at Jonah to hurry up and I put a hand on his arm to try and calm him down. "We're seriously gonna miss this window" he yells. "Deck, calm down" I tell him calmly. Jonah caves and connects the machine to Hattie's arm before she groans in pain when it injects itself into her. Everyone starts celebrating when it works and the alarm alerts us that Brixton is here.

Deck and Hattie have their moment and talk while I grab a weapon to fight with. When I see Deck walking towards his car I run up to him and grab his arm. He turns to look at me, "You ok?" he asks concerned. "Don't die" I say seriously, I can't live without him. He smiles, "I won't. You don't die either" he replies and kisses me before turning towards his car and I go towards Hattie to keep an eye on her while Deck, Hobbs and his brothers deal with Eteon.

The fight breaks loose and Hattie and I stay as hidden as possible. The sun begins to rise and I hear all the yelling from the battle field and worry about Deck. "He'll be ok" Hattie tells me, resting a hand on my shoulder. "It just feels strange being here and not out there helping him, even though I know he can take care of himself" I reply with a smile. "I think that's what love is" she answers before we see a group of men running towards us. We hop off the truck and Hattie grabs a wrench and I lift the metal pole I picked up earlier. We attack the men instantly. Two men manage to grab Hattie and when I try and help her another man tackles me to the ground. He gets up before going to hit me with a tool from the work desk. I bring my metal pole up in front of my face and the tool hits it with force. I push upwards while he pushes down and I begin to struggle against his force when I hear Hattie say "Deck". I look to see Deck standing next to an unconscious Eteon agent before helping Hattie get loose from the men. I continue to struggle against the man above me, his tool getting closer and closer to my face when Deck hits him across the face and he falls to the ground. I relax and let my arms fall to the side of my body.

Deck pulls me to my feet and we smile at each other. We then see an Eteon vehicles heading straight towards the small shelter we're under, we all look at each other in panic and run in different directions. I run beside Hattie while Deck runs the other way. We dive forward just as the vehicles hits the shelter and causes an explosion. Hattie and I are thrown forward and my vision is unclear and there's a ringing in my ears. I look at Hattie and ask if she's ok but she just seems fazed and unsteady. I pull myself to my feet and lift her up, she nods at me a little before grabbing a weapon. We walk through the battle field carefully as my senses become clearer and 2 agents walk towards us. We turn around and Brixton stands behind us. I keep Hattie behind me and attempt to attack Brixton. He grabs me easily and throws me over a car and I land on the battle field with a thud. I groan at the impact and then Hobbs appears in front of me. "You ok?" he asks and I nod my head as I sit up. "Come on, we gotta get Hattie" he says as he lifts me up and we run and jump on the back of the truck Deck drives.
