The Date

~Y/n's POV~

I carefully race through the compound to take Nat on the date when I almost run straight into my dad.

"Woah there kiddo" I skid to a stop before I run into him. "where are you off to in such a hurry?" he asks, raising his eyebrow, confused.

"Nat and I are going out.." I respond, my voice slightly high from nerves, I have no idea how he's going to react to this.

"What, like an evening hangout?"

"Not exactly.." I avoid eye contact, slowly backing away.

"Wait.." I think he knows, "you mean a date?" Oh hey, I think it's time for me to go before I get a lecture about dating.

"Yep, speaking of, I really need to go, can't leave Nat waiting!" I smile, spin on my heel and start to speed walk away.

"Wait just a sec-" he starts to follow after me.

"Sorry dad! Can't hear you!" I walk faster "Too busy leaving this conversation to go take Nat on a date!"

"Y/n!" he calls after me.

I quickly bolt out of the room and towards Nat's. Once I'm at her door, I pause, "you've got this y/n" I take a deep breath and knock.

The door opens to reveal Nat in all her beauty and glory. No, that's not, exaggeration, she's Nat, enough said.

"Hey there" Nat says with a smirk. Play it cool y/n, play it cool.

"Hey yourself" wooow, that was a great response. Way to play it cool.

"You ready to go?" I ask her.

"Yeah let's go" she smiles.

We both exit the compound and get into my car. Once we're in the car we begin our journey.

"So, where are we going?" Nat looks over at me as she speaks.

"Into the city"

"And what are we doing?" She asks.

"Well...I don't know. But before you say anything, hear me out!" I look over to her briefly before focusing on the road again. "I thought, why don't we just see where the nights takes us! Be a little carefree, just for a night".

Nat looks at me again, eyebrow raised "That's your plan?"

"I only gave myself an hour!" I shrug.

"I'm just teasing, this will be fun" she smiles.

~Nat's pov~

After driving for a while long, Y/n and I arrive in the city. Once we've parked and gotten out of the car we begin to wonder around the city.

"I always forget how pretty new york is at night" y/n looks up at the buildings with a content smile.

"Yeah, it's a pretty nice city but" I look over to her "It's not nearly as stunning as you"

"I'm sorry what-" a blush runs across her face.

I smirk "you hear me"

Y/n looks down at ground trying to hide her face "yeah no I heard you uh" she clears her throat "I'm just trying to process what you said".

I smile and look at the path ahead.

We continue to walk through the city.

"Do you want to get some food?" Y/n asks after a few minutes.

"Sure, what were you thinking?"

"There's a really nice pizza place nearby!" she smiles. She reminds me of an excited puppy, I won't lie.
