"Hayden? Are you awake yet?" A familiar voice whispers. I force my eyes open, leaving the comfortable oblivion of sleep. "We have work." The same person informs me, grabbing onto my hand and helping me sit up. I look at him, Aidan Gallagher in all his glory. His brown hair is messier than ever. His green eyes glittering in the sunlight. Shoot, sunlight. I was supposed to get up way earlier.
"What time is it?" I ask as I get out of bed and stretch my arms above my head.
"Let's just say we might be late." He chuckles.
"Just tell me the dang time sir." I cross my arms.
"Check it yourself."
"Help a girl out won't you?" I go on my tip toes so I can look into his eyes. He grabs his phone from his back pocket.
"6:09." He recites.
"SIX? WE"RE GOING TO BE LATE!" I rush over to my closet and pull out a dark green tank top, a pair of jeans, and the sweatshirt that was once Aidan's.
"Chill, it's only a 30 minute cab ride." I ignore him and continue racing to the bathroom to change.
I throw my clothes on, brush my hair as quickly as I can, and run to the table. On it is a piece of french toast and some pancakes. I gobble it up as Aidan stands by watching and laughing at me. "You can slow down."
"No." I say, my mouth practically overflowing with food. I swallow it, and run out of our apartment room. I hear footsteps racing behind me.
"You forgot something." Aidan says.
"Oh shoot, my backpack." I stop.
"That," he looks at my shoeless feet, "and that."
"Dang it!" I run back into our room. I race to my bedroom and throw everything from my drawers, that's not socks, out on the floor. I shuffle around to find my shoes. I jump onto my bed and put my socks and shoes on my feet. Once done, I allow myself to fall off the bed. I run back to the door, grab my backpack with my script in it, and hustle back to where Aidan stands waiting.
"Ready?" He wonders.
"Finally." I say, breathing super heavy. All he does is laugh a little and leads me to the elevator. We step out of the cab and onto the piece of land where our set is located. "I'm terrified." I admit, moving closer to Aidan as the cab drives away. No going back now I guess.
"I promise, it will be okay." He reassures me with a slight smile. I nod and we walk to the trailers. I race ahead of him, laughing.
"Slow down!" He chants from behind me.
"NEVA!" I cheer. He starts running to catch up with me. A few minutes later, we arrive at two trailers. One marked with the name 'Eight,' and the other with, 'Five.'
"Must be us." Aidan laughs.
"No duh." I roll my eyes. I grab the keys hanging from the handle and open the door. Inside is a couch, tv, bathroom, some drawers, and a carpet. I walk inside and plop down on the black leather couch. I place my backpack on the floor. Aidan appears in the doorway.
"Pretty cool?"
"Yep." I say as I curl into a ball on the couch.
A few minutes later, a man with a clipboard walks in. I really need to get better with shutting doors.
"You two are needed at hair and makeup." He informs and leaves.
"Here we go I guess." I laugh a little. Aidan chuckles too, allowing his dimples to slow. I can feel the butterflies coming back.
"You're blushing." He smirks.
"Just sweating." I lie and take off his sweatshirt.
"Let's go then." He stands up off the couch and puts his hand out.
"I can stand up thanks." I stand up too, placing the sweatshirt where I was sitting."Do you know where we're going?" I ask as we run through the maze of trailers.
"I thought you knew." Aidan looks at me.
"Shoot." We say togher.
"Looking for hair and makeup?" A voice says from behind us. I jump and grab onto Aidan. The person laughs as they step in front of us. "No need to be scared, I'm new too." I smile a bit. "I'm Tj McGibbon." The girl announces. She has straight brown, almost black, hair.
"Hayden Kooper." I say, stepping away from the warmth of Aidan. It's actually really cold. Not going to lie, I wish I didn't take off the sweatshirt.
"I'm Aidan Gallagher."
"Nice to meet you two. Any clue where the hair and makeup trailer is?" Tj wonders.
"We've been looking for it for," I pick up Aidans arm to look at his watch, "10 minutes."
"God." Aidan sighs.
"YOU THREE LOOKING FOR THE TRAILER?" A boy screams, running over to Aidan, Tj, and I.
"YEP!" Tj yells.
"FOLLOW ME!" The boy yells.
"CAN WE NOT SHOUT?" I ask, in a loud tone too.
"Sure." The boy agrees. "Just come with me." He starts walking away. We follow. "So, who are you all playing?"
"Eight." I say.
"Five."
"Young Vanya Hargreeves."
"Cool, I'm playing young Klaus Hargreeves, Dante Albidone."
Dante leads us into the trailer.
"Aidan, Hayden, you're late." A woman says.
"Sorry, we couldn't find the place." Aidan utters, looking at me, Tj, and Dante.
"Just go find your chairs." She tells all four of us. Aidan and I walk away from Tj and Dante since they're in a different part of the trailer. This one is a lot bigger than our personal ones. Like A LOT bigger. It has two sides. One with curtains for changing and the other which is a lot longer with chairs and mirrors and people. So. Many. People.
"Are you okay?" Aidan asks as I bite down on my lip so hard that it starts to hurt.
"Mhm." I nod.
"Okay.." He obviously doesn't believe me. I sigh as I sit down. Aidan sits in the chair next to me. Next to him is Emmy, then Ellen, then David, then Robert, then Tom, and finally, Justin. Everything about this screams, 'Jean is going to hate you.' I bite my lip. I don't know if I should care though. I mean, what are the chances? Me not letting Jean come just lowers them more.
Well they could have met before. I did first meet Aidan back home in Los Angeles. I wonder what would have happened if we met sooner. When Jean and Pierce could have been friends with him too.
I feel a soft item brush my face. I realized that I shut my eyes. I open them and notice that it was a makeup brush. There's a woman doing my makeup for the show. She looks about 50 years old. I look over at Aidan.
"Don't move." She advises.
"Sorry." I apologize, moving my head back to its original position.
"It's okay ma'am."After she finishes my makeup, I get handed my costume. I have a white button-up shirt, a red and black plaid dress over it, a dark blue tie that goes under the dress, short black shorts, obviously, and a dark blue blazer with red lining and a patch. With it I have black boots with like a million latches and tall black socks.
I walk out of the dressing room to see Aidan for the first time since we've gotten here.
"You look great." I choke. He looks back at me. He's wearing the same thing I am but instead of a dress he has a grey, black, and red sweater vest and longer shorts that reach to just above his knee.
"Thanks." He smiles, revealing his adorable dimples. "You look way better though."
"Quit lying." I chuckle.
"Totally serious." He sticks his hands up.
"Fine." I agree, rolling my eyes. "Next step is finding set."
"Let's do this." Aidan laughs as the two of us run from the trailer and over to the set.
