Tropius slowly hovered through the fog, giving me time to fume. He was carrying me to see Ho-oh, who still hasn't appeared in all this mess. I'm not sure how things got this way, and seeing the Legendary Pokemon might help. At the thought, I felt my belt quiver. A quaint flash of light made me turn my head. My Pokemon balanced on Tropius's back. Swoobat flew alongside the grass type. They all looked sullen.
"What?" I asked sternly. Dewott made its way around me and whispered in Tropius's ear. I promptly felt the sizable grass and flying type start steadily stooping towards the ground. The fog whirled around us, dense as ever. I felt a breeze but it still didn't clear.
We jumped off onto a stone ground, surprised to see all of the dirt gone. I looked at my Pokemon's silhouettes in the fog.
"If you guys want me to apologize to Travis, it's not happening," I said. Padfoot barked.
"Dew! Ott!" Dewott scolded me. My head started feeling fuzzy until I heard a flutter from Swoobat. It distracted me long enough to let in whatever was trying to.
'I think it's time to reveal my power' a voice said.
"Tropius? Is that you?" I asked. It bowed its head.
'It could have been yours too. But you are too far gone' it said.
"What do you mean?"
'You use to be so pure. You were friends with anything and anyone. You had a strong outlook on your future. However, that changed when you let things start getting to you' Tropius explained.
"Things like what?" I said.
'It started with your friend Sophia, who tricked you for so long. Then you lost your Emolga, your very first Pokemon and best friend. For the longest time, you held together. You still looked at your Pokemon as friends and was happy until recently. You lost your parents and now you've lost your human best friend. Your home was destroyed and now you have no where to go except confronting Ho-oh' Tropius said. With every word, it's voice grew more suspenseful. It began to make me angry. 'Look back to that day you set out on your journey. The first time you met Emolga. The journey you had after that'
It was then I had a realization. A flash of the person I was before. My anger mixed with the memory of happiness, and I felt a lump in throat.
'The way you saved Padfoot as a Lillipup. The way you proved yourself worthy to Woobat, now a Swoobat thanks to your kindness. The promise you made to the little girl. Saving me. All done in the span of two weeks. That's the person among the very few who might have had the possibility of speaking with Pokemon. A gift for one who appreciates nature and Pokemon the way they are. Even willing to preserve both at all costs'
I felt the lump get bigger, and tried to shake it away as quickly as possible. My Pokemon surrounded me, trying to comfort me. Swoobat sat on my head as she did when she was a Woobat. I stared into the fog, fighting back tears.
"I was...so happy when I received Emolga. We didn't know each other that long, but it was like we knew each other from the start," I said. I felt my face turn blank, and suddenly the lump was gone. "But that doesn't matter now."
The Pokemon stepped away at the sound of my voice. I felt myself start flowing with words.
"I'm so tired of people telling me I'm not who I use to be. People change and you need to understand that! There's no going back to who I use to be. It's like you said, I'm too far gone," I yelled at them. They looked at me like I was crazy. I stepped forward and into the fog, leaving Tropius and my Pokemon behind.

P.O.V. Clara
"Hey Travis?" I said, getting the blonde's attention.
"What?" He said. I could tell he was angry.
"What did you mean about Emolga? Do you mean mine?" I asked.
"No. Well, maybe. You said you got yours from your cousin right?" He asked.
I thought back. "Yeah. Nate gave me her."
"Wait, Nate? The guy who destroyed Tram Plasma?" Travis asked.
"Yeah," I said. Then I remembered Devin's Emolga was taken by Team Plasma in exchange for a Petilil he was trying to save. There was only one source who could confirm this. I released Emolga into the gym.
"Emo!" She said.
"Emolga. Did you used to be trained by someone named Devin?" I asked.
Emolga looked at me with wide eyes and shook her head, flopping her ears around.
"Then this isn't the right Emolga," Travis said. The platform at the back of the gym suddenly rose, then came back down with someone on it. It was Burgh who stepped off and walked to us. His decorative cane clicked against the cobble floor.
"So how do you like your gym Travis?" He asked with flair.
"It's great," he said, "but we are trying to figure something out."
"Oh?" The former gym leader said. "Do tell."
"We are trying to figure out if my Emolga has any relation to Devin's," I said.
"We've already established that Clara's isn't Devin's, but she recognized him when she first saw him. Well, the name anyways," Travis explained.
"Interesting. Maybe Clara's Emolga is just a symbol. A message from Devin's Emolga," Burgh suggested. Emolga turned at the idea. "You know, the older pendants had hidden areas in them for secret messages." He crouched and held out his hand to Emolga. "Will you let me see it this time?"
Emolga immediately took off the necklace and set it in Burgh's hand. He stood up and fiddled with it for a minute. I heard a small click and the pendant opened like a book. Burgh pulled a feather out of the middle of it. It shimmered gold, and other colors sometimes could be seen when light hit it from different angles.
"What is it?" I asked.
"It appears to be a Rainbow Feather," Burgh said. "A sign of trust from the legendary Pokemon, Ho-oh."
I immediately grabbed Travis's arm and ran out the door. Emolga glided to my shoulder. I tossed a Pokeball and the Braviary Skyla helped me catch formed. I hopped on with Travis behind me, and we flew off.
Somewhere over a small island, Tropius flew out of the fog with Devin's Pokemon. I ushered Braviary over to him.
"Do you know where Devin went?" I asked.
'Into the fog!' a voice said.
"Did...did you just talk?" Travis asked.
'I'll explain later! Just go!' Tropius said.
"Braviary, Dive!" I said. In the span of a few seconds, the fog was condensing on my face. My Pokemon sped to the ground, my ears popped, and Travis was screaming behind me. I'm not sure how he saw it, but Braviary straightened out. I stepped off onto stone. All the dirt had been stripped and become an island.
I called out for Devin into the fog. No answer. That's when we heard it. A screech. A screech only a bird Pokemon could produce.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"We follow it."
