My mom looked at both of us.
"This is the plan.i want you to run. You'll go with our neighbors son, Rhun. My I want you to run till your legs can't go anymore. Then after three days, me and rhun's parents will meet you at the canopy tree. Got that?"
I shake my head, while trembling.
"So your gonna leave us?"
I speak in a trembly voice. A tear rolls down my cheek.
"I'll meet you there. I promise."
My mom turns us pushing us to the door. As we are about to leave I turn to my mom, and she's looks at me smiling.
"Protect your brother, for me."
She whispers. She then runs he hands though my hair one last time. I
Smile,
"I will. Love you."
She kissed my forehead and hurries me out the door. I grab Wecans hand and run over to khan, who's standing waiting. I notice as we reach him his completion. He has scruffy black hair, and a gorgeous face.
"Come on, let's go."
He turns and starts running. I look behind me for one last time at my village. I see the white men at a house next to mine, pulling the inhabitants out. I see my mom at the door,
watching us. I turn, clenching my brothers hand tighter and start running.
