We ran. Rhun ran, Wecan ran, and I ran. We soon couldn't see the village behind us, only saw endless savannah. Soon Wecan started complaining.
"My feet hurt. Can we take a break? Please!"
He looked pleadingly at me and I turned casting my glance at Rhun. I raised an eyebrow at him as if to ask his opinion. He leaned down, resting his hands on his knees, panting.
"Yes... I... Could use... A break.... As well..."
He said between breaths. I agreed quickly realizing I could use one too. We walked to a large, savanna tree and I leaned against it. Wecan laid beside me, leaning on me. His eyes became more and more drowsy until he was fully asleep. Rhun was sitting beside me, but not touching. He looked at me with his bright blue eyes and smiled.
"So, Rhun. You don't look African, is that true?"
I said to him, curious.
"I'm from India, but moved here when I was only two."
I nodded. His eyes glimmered and he spoke clearly and smooth. His voice was like soft, drizzly Caramel.
"But "sundara", where are you from?"
I looked at him puzzled.
"Sundara? My name is Añuli."
He responded simply.
" "Sundara" is Hindi for beautiful."
He grinned greatly and I blushed, looking back at Wecan.
"Well, Añuli, you don't look African."
He smirked.
"I'm originally from America, yes, but my parents moved here before I was born."
He nodded, and then grabbed a strand of my hair, twirling it around his finger.
"So, I take Wecans your brother, "Hām"?"
I guessed "Hām" ment yes, and I guessed correctly.
"Yes, he's my brother. My only sibling, and I've taken care of him since my father died. My mom always was working to earn little cash she could."
I said, remembering my father.
"Sorry about your loss. My father is over in America trying to get a doctors diploma. I'm an only child. We should continue "Calanā", before a "Sinah" catches us, "Sundara"."
He spoke, his accent very noticeable. I think trying to find out the words he said in Hindi. He must of noticed because he then talked again.
"I'm guessing your clueless about my words. "Calanā" means "walking". "Sinah" means lion."
He smiled and grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder. I shook Wecans shoulder, waking him up. I grab my bag, and Wecan's, and start walking. As we walk, I start thinking.
"Where are we going"
I must of thought out loud because Rhun responded with a wink,
"Where ever our feet take us."
