I wake up, noticing the sun is just starting to rise. I sit up, and look over at Wecan and smile watching him sleep. Rhun, on the other hand, is missing from is bed. I stand slowly, and look around for him. Seeing him no where, I sigh. I sit back down watching the sun climb over the savanna. It's tangerine color, or as our tribe call it the blood sun, shines brightly over my face, painting it with many colors. I start thinking and fear about the 'if' questions.
"What if we run out of food?"
"What if we get lost?"
"What if?"
What if!"
They ring in my head as if a bell rang.
I run my hand through my hair stressed and close my eyes. I pull out a granola bar, and take a bite, chewing. I look off watching a herd of gazelle grazing. The sun continues rising, plastering itself against the sky as if it was a portrait. The later and later it gets, I get more and more worried about Rhun.I sit there, continuously staring at the scene before me, lost in thought. I must of been so zoned out because Rhun comes and sits beside me. 5 minutes later, I finally see he's there.
"Where have you been?"
I question him. He looks at me, cups my chin into his hand and smiles.
"Oh 'sakura', doing the same as you. Watching the sunrise."
He says, his voice crisp.
"Last night. You said something in Hindi before U went to bed. What does that mean?"
I ask, curious.
"U can't learn the whole Hindi dictionary in one day, but you can learn the meaning of a word."
That's all he says before standing and walking to his camping area. I'm now left wondering about the words.
