Chapter 4 A Hit of Reality

A small centipede crawled along the walls of rock and stone. Idly its antennae wiggled around the air searching for prey.

Then a giant hand plucked it off the wall. "All right clam down little guy- Ow." The centipede wrapped its body around the finger that it was currently biting. 

"Stupid bug" I said reaching out my other hand. The index finger of my left hand had a small tree like structure sprouting out from my skin. The small veins on the outside of my finger wrapped around the head of the centipede penetrating the chitin and reaching into the centipede's body making sure not to connect to the circulatory system, because human blood and centipede blood probably won't mix. Along with the veins even smaller branched structures connected with the nervous system of the bug and it violently flexed all of its limbs until it went limp.

One by one the legs of the centipede relaxed and flexed before moving individually like a foreign entity was testing out its body which was currently happening.

Taking over another creature is weird. After I connect to their nervous system I get an influx of memories and information to my own mind. Not only that but having two brains is a weird feeling. Technically me and this bug would be like Siamese twins and he could control his own body while I could control my own but we were still connected but with our nervous systems connected it felt like I was sucking out his life like out of a bendy straw. Kind of like a Slurpee is what I would describe it as.

I could feel its body and with its own memories I can control it too. I was really worried that it was going to be jarring to control a body with so many legs but surprisingly its as natural as moving my own body. 

This power is pretty versatile if I use it right but it functions like something out of a horror movie. Seriously this is something that a villain would have as a power.

If I connect my nervous system directly to its organs I can roughly make out how it functions. Most important is the venom glands that the centipede has being able to replicate them would give me venom attacks which could help kill things for my theoretical drones.

Wait this thing has something else in it. There is a small sphere like organ in its body too. Huh this things different from everything else. It connects to the circulatory system but I can't tell its function it doesn't secrete anything and more of looks like a tumor if anything. Weird...

I should remove it just in case it actually is a tumor. After I remove the weird organ the centipede dies, and I feel it die. Its lifeforce just dissipates and fades away. It put me in shock for a while dying from another body was weird but definitely didn't feel like the first time I died back on earth.

Not only that but the weird tumor like structure melts away eating itself and forms a small crystal after all the dark substance. It felt like energy was going into the small crystal. What the hell is this thing?

Just as I am thinking about the crystal it cracks and I feel the energy going into my body or my soul to be more exact.

What was that?

Oh! Maybe its those things in games called magic crystals you know the stuff that drops out form monsters when they are killed by a hero grinding levels. Then again that would be suggesting there is magic in this world which is not impossible let's be honest we are in an entirely different world so anything could be possible. And this entire thing has been a classic isekai plot line minus the token harem.

Let's test it, maybe magic exists. I don't know what I am doing but let me try to see if I can feel any sort of hint of magic. But instead I just stood there scrunching my face.

Maybe it will work if I meditate it might come to me.

And then nothing. Okay maybe I should leave this off for a different time. This is going to be hard to figure out and I am already doing something so I put the whole magic thing on hold for the moment.
