Days had gone by. You, Ted, and Schlatt had been in and out of the hospital, just so someone was able to spend time with Charlie.

Thankfully, Charlie had been improving. He had to do some sort of therapy and used a walker to move around, but other than that things seemed to be going good.

He honestly didn't seem as upset as he was before about the whole thing. He kept bringing up the fact that he had 'really cool scars' on his back now, mainly from the surgery and the wounds themselves.

It was also a relief to know he was able to wear regular clothes now, though the shirts had to be loose and baggy. You figured the hospital gown was comfy, but it was a little.. revealing if moved the wrong way.

Today was your day to stay at the hospital with Charlie once again, since the three of you mainly took 'shifts' when doing so. You arrived in Charlie's hotel room with a small bag that was packed with some things, you had offered to stay early so you brought a change of clothes and a few other things just to be prepared.

When you entered the room Charlie was slowly moving around the room, his grip tight on his walker. He glanced over at you, a wide smile growing on his face. "Y/N! You're here!"

"Of course Charlie, I wouldn't just leave you here alone." You said softly. You closed the door and sat your bag in a chair. "How's everything going?"

Charlie slowly scooted over and sat down another chair, keeping the walker in front of him. "All the same really, walking has gotten a lot easier.." He said softly, sighing a bit to himself.

A smile formed on your face as you nodded. "That's good." You hummed, looking at your bag before quickly remembering something. "Oh! I just remembered, I have a gift for you!" You said softly, immediately grabbing your bag and digging through it.

He leaned over a bit and watched out of curiosity, causing you to glance up at him and smiled. "Close your eyes. It won't be a surprise if you watch."

"Okay, okay.." He muttered as he sat up, shutting his eyes tightly. You smiled at his enthusiasm, before reaching back into your bag, grabbing the gift.

You had even taken time to wrap the gifts, if you would consider 'wrapping' as just putting it in a small gift box you had found at the store.

Standing up, you walked over and carefully placed the box in Charlie's hands. "Okay, you can open your eyes now." You said with a small smile.

Slowly opening his eyes he looked down at the box, a smile forming on his face. "Awe, Y/N. You didn't have to get me anything.." He said softly.

"Just see it as a 'I'm glad you didn't die' gift." You said with a small giggle, carefully sitting next to him. "Go ahead and open it."

Slowly pulling the lid off, Charlie looked inside. Though, instead of the excited reaction your expected from him, you watched as his smile died down.

He just stared at the sewing kit that sat in the box, as if he didn't know how to react. He carefully picked it up and held it closer to his face, inspecting it more. ".. Not to sound rude, Y/N.. but.. what exactly is it?"

"It's a knitting kit." He said with a smile. "Schlatt and Ted told me you liked to knit a lot in your free time, so I figured I'd get you something to do while you're stuck in the hospital.."

Tears formed in the corners of Charlie's eyes as he stared down at the gift, his hands beginning to shake. ".. They did..?"

Seeing his reaction made you instantly understand what was going on. You scooted closer and carefully placed your hand on his shoulder. "Charlie.."

"I.. I don't remember sewing.. I don't remember any of that.." He spoke softly as tears rolled down his cheeks. "I already forgot a ton of shit.. haven't I..?" He asked and slowly looked up at you, his eyes glossy.

You felt awful and almost immediately hugged him close to you, wanting to rub his back but refraining because of his wounds. "Hey, hey.. don't worry, okay? You remembered me, Schlatt, and Ted.. you seem to remember a lot of other things.. it's easy to learn how to sew.."

"But what if I've forgotten other things..?" He stuttered out, doing his best to hold his tears back. "I can't remember what I don't remember.."

Rubbing his shoulders, you let out a small sigh. "We can figure all of that out later.. your physical recovery is what's important right now.."

Taking your hand you carefully wiped the tears from his eyes, before leaning over and giving him a small kiss on his cheek. "I know it's tough, Charlie.. but it's best to not get too overwhelmed.."

His hand slowly gripped onto yours, before he leaned over and laid against you slightly. ".. Y/N?.. You.. you killed Swagger, right?"

That made you think harder than you should've. You killed Swagger. You killed Swagger. Not Ted. Not Schlatt. But you.

And why? The guys had more hate towards him than you did. You didn't even know who the hell he was before you came to live with the guys.

".. I did." You said softly, your hand slowly reaching up to caress his cheek. "I killed him. But that doesn't matter anymore. He can't hurt us. And I doubt any of the people who worked for him will try to hunt us down, either."

All Charlie did was nod, sniffling quietly as he leaned against you. ".. Thank you, Y/N.." He said softly. "For being here for me, I mean.."

A smile formed on your face as you hugged him close. "I'd never leave you hanging, Charlie. I'll be here as long as you need me." You said softly.

The two of you stared at each other in silence for a moment, but before anything else could happen, the door to the room swung open. Ted and Schlatt just invited themselves in.

"Oh, are we interrupting something?" Ted teased, walked over and sitting on the other side of you.

You quickly sat up, a bit startled. "No! We were just, talking.." You sighed. "We're starting to figure what Charlie's forgotten.. so far he's forgotten about sewing.."

Schlatt walked over, a small frown on his face. "Awe, Charlie.. don't stress about it too much." He said, before walking over and sitting down. "Oh, also, good news. I found us an apartment not too far from our hometown. I say we live somewhere small for now, just to lay low for a bit."

"Once Charlie's better and able to leave, I think it'll be best that we get out of here." He sighed.

Nodding slowly, you couldn't help but smile. "I think that's a good plan. Laying low is honestly all that we need."

"Agreed." Ted said with a stretch. "I'd love to finally just relax for a bit." He said with a small chuckle.

"I think a break would be nice."

(And that's it. That's the book.

Don't worry though! Book two is already in production, it won't take long for that to come out! :D

In honor of the ending of this book, though, I'm going to be doing a small QnA 👀

Here you can ask small questions about the next book, ask questions about the characters, or just ask for a random fact about a certain character! :D

And trust me, I have a lot of random facts, lmao

Anyway, see you all next book! Better keep an eye out for it ;] )
