Whats in a name?

As I lay there blind, I was bored. I wanted to get up but they had tied me down, guess I'm a danger to myself. So, I do the only thing I can do, think. I think back to my childhood, to the stories Aunt Marcy had told me. She talked about Laughing Jack the most, I wonder what the relationship with him is. Can a mortal even date the pastas? Are we mortal? Ugh, thinking just leads to more questions and it's frustrating! Where is everyone?

"Hello?" I call out.

"What's up?" A cold yet familiar voice answers. Hobo heart.

I turn my head to face where his voice came from. "I'm bored"

I hear a small chuckle "and what, you think we are over here playing games? The doctors are trying to figure out a cure and I'm stuck on watch duty. No one is having fun."

I turn away, think then turn back "I need to use the restroom."

There was silence for a moment before a chair scraped on the ground. "Fine, I'll go get one of the girls." His footsteps faded.

I need to get up and out. I don't want to be stuck here. I sigh softly as I wait and recall all that I can remember. "Hobo heart, laughing Jack, eyeless Jack, BED DROWNED, Jeff the killer, Jane the killer, slender man and his brothers, dr Smiley, nurse Ann, Jason the toy-"

"Don't finish that name. Have you remember nothing from what I told you?" Aunt Marcy cut me off. That's right, saying certain people's names can summon them. "Now then Molly let's get you to the bathroom"

"I have a question."

"Oh? And what might that be?" Marcy begins to unlock my hands.

"Can we chose our own names?" I stretch my arms as she releases them.

"What do you mean?" She sounded like she was holding back a laugh.

"Like eyeless Jack, or hobo heart. I'm sure they had different names before coming here. Did they choose those names or did someone else chose them?"  I sit up as she unlocks my legs.

"Hmm that's a good question. I never asked how that worked, something you can ask the others yourself I guess." She helps me off the bed. "Why do you ask?"

"Cause I want my own name, I already have one in mind." I stumble a bit being new to the blindness still.

"Oh?" She chuckled "and what's that?"

"The hollow." I say gesturing to my chest.

"Ominous, but I think that one's taken by a group of pastas." She guides me down the hall holding both my hands.

"How about heartless?" I tilt my head.

"Nope, taken by Noelle Williams. She works for the night demon." Marcy huffs a bit "she's ... interesting"

I sigh heavily "ok fine, how about, ummm..."

Marcy chuckles again "you know it doesn't have to be anything ominous or creepy. People around here just call me Marcy, it's enough. Though if you don't like your birth name you can go by a different one. Lots of people go by the same names, just look at the jacks. There is eyeless and laughing."

I think for a minute "ok then I want to be called Darline."

"Ok, Darline. I like it."

We stop at a door and Marcy helps me find a toilet then helps me wash up.

"Do you know how long I will be like this?" I ask a little hopeful.

"Sadly no. But the doctors are trying to figure it out. Though in the meantime I'll tell everyone of your new name." She helps me back to the room and back on the bed. "Now rest, they will probably come in later to do some tests."

"Alright, thanks." I close my eyes and try to ignore everything around me as I fall asleep.

But whispers make their way into my mind as I drift away.

"How long do you think she has?"
