Chapter 1

TRIS

I came in first? I came in first. I can't believe my eyes. I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn around. Tobias is standing there beaming at me.

"You think giving you a hug would give away too much?"He asks. I don't really care about anything right now.

"You know I really don't care"I tell him. I stand on my tiptoes and press my lips to his. Everything around me disappears. When he touches the injection site on my neck, everything comes together. I know how the war's going to happen.I pull away and stare at him with wide eyes.

"Tris?" He asks.

"Tobias, I know it, I know how the war's going to happen. Quick, we need to go somewhere alone."I urge him.

We have alot of trouble getting out of the cafeteria.I have to dodge people like, alot of people, who want to congratulate me. Finally we make it and soon, I find myself walking across the rocks in the chasm.He stops and turns to me.

"Now what have you got?" He asks me silently.

"Tobias, the serum that was injected into us wasn't a tracking device, it's a long distance transmitter. They are going to control our minds, Tobias. We have to stop this while we can. Tobias, with this act, we can save the city and hundreds of lives from getting destroyed" I say.

His eyes look ready to pop out of his sockets and he is looking at me with such amazement.

"Do you know what you have figured out, Tris? Now I really see why you have an aptitude for Erudite. You realise how amazing you seem to me right now?" He beams at me. My heart warms at that.

"Tobias,we have to finish it by tonight. Because the war could be starting tommorow." I tell him. He nods.

"Let's do it." We say together.
