Chapter 16. Please do Something
Lord Julius stood before the Magic Knights with a smile. Bella left the group of younger knights to stand with the Silver Eagles squad. She stood on the right of Nozel since Nebra was on his left and Solid was next to her. He nodded in acknowledgement as she stood next to him.

"Now then, Let's begin the Star Awarding Ceremony." Julius said. He called out the names of the knight who had earned stars and promoted their ranks while giving them advice as well. Nebra was promoted to 3rd Upper Magic Knight and Solid moved up to 3rd Middle Magic Knight.

'Hmm. I wonder how many stars I have...' Bella shuffled a bit on her feet as she listened as the other Knights were promoted. And much to her surprise it was over a lot sooner than she expected, because Lord Julius stood from his seat and announced his leave.

"Great work from all of you. Now then.. You guys can enjoy yourselves with the little that I've prepared. Do get along with them." he said, referencing to the group of young knights he had asked to stay. All eyes traveled to the group, Bella couldn't help but smirk as she stared at them as well.

'They look so cute and nervous... I almost feel bad for staring.'

The knights had started to mingle a little more and serve themselves some food and refreshments, Bella had stayed at Nozel's side though to avoid the attention and stares that the other newbies were receiving.

Bella had picked up a cup full of grapes and ate from it while following her Captain, whom was chatting quietly with his siblings. She wasn't listening since 1, it wasn't her business, 2, she was busy watching her friends.

Asta had started to make a ruckus, shouting over how good the food was. She thought it was adorable seeing him try something new for the first time and enjoy it but her mood turned sour when she saw some Knights staring at him in disgust.

Belladonna plopped another grape into her mouth watching a man from the Golden Dawn squad, his name being Alecdora Sandler. The longer he stared at Asta the more twisted his face became and the more agitated Belladonna grew.

Asta was loudly and messily digging into whatever dish he had grabbed, finally ticked off by him, Alecdora spoke, "Dirty slum rat."

His words seemed to cause a chain reaction because Bella quickly heard other voices speaking their thoughts.

"Why would the emperor bring that in here?"

"Even the way he eats is dirty."

"I can't feel any magic from him... I bet he got lucky in that dungeon."

"The little rat doesn't even get that he doesn't belong here."

Bella's eyes quickly snapped to Asta who she was sure heard it all but was taken back by him seeming to be fine.

"Well, it's nothing new. Man, they're not even trying to whisper." Asta said casually to his friends.

'He shouldn't be so nonchalant about these things being said about him. How often does he face discrimination...'

She turned to voice her thoughts to Nozel but she noticed he was no longer near her, she tried quickly scanning the room for him but she turned back to the small crowd when she heard another voice pipe up.

It was a boy with ginger hair, a Crimson Lion. "If we're talking about slums, you have a rat in your order." he said.

'A little rat who thinks he's hot shit because he has a 4 leaf clover grimoire...' Alecdora glanced at Yuno before turning to the boy who spoke to him. "You have quite the mouth on you kid. And fyi, none of us expect anything from that dirty rat. We'll be the ones that bring to fruition Sir Vengeance's dreams."
