Chapter 21. A kind gesture

After receiving new spells Bella immediately excused herself to test them out. Nozel called her back before she could leave so she could take his magic as well. She tried to thank him again but he just waved her off so she quickly left and practically flew down the stairs. Her smile was noticed by the other Silver Eagles she passed. Even from his office window, Nozel was able to spot the smile on her face.

"Wow..." Belladonna muttered when she opened her grimoire to one of its newly inked pages. She quickly read through Rinatto's spells, she didn't realize how diverse wind user spells can be. She lifted her hand and had her palm face up and watched as a small gust of wind swirled out of her palm.

She chuckled and tried to put more effort into it. The wind gust got strong enough and moved her hair strands back. She flipped through the pages some more and saw Solid's spells, Pinica's spells but she stopped when she got to her sister's page. Well except now it wasn't just her sister's, Nil's spells were also added to it.

She sighed and sat down on the ground.

It had always just been Kizuma's ice magic page, now it was completely filled and even had a few more on the next page.

'She'd want me to grow...' Bella cleared her throat and stood to start practicing. She decided to try Nil's spells first since she was familiar with using ice magic already. After rigorous trial and error of trying to gain a reign on the new stronger ice spells, Belladonna was able to master them as she did her sister's. It was around lunchtime and she was a bit hungry so she decided to put away her book and go get something to eat.

She tried her best to wipe her sweat away and fix her hair back which had a bunch of stray hairs, but it was fine. Bella pushed open the door and saw that it was mostly empty except for maybe seven knights. She glanced at the large main dining table and saw Nils!

'Perfect! I'll use this as a chance to speak to him.'

Belladonna walked confidently to the table and stood on the opposite side of him, he glanced up from the cup of tea he was drinking and quickly averted his gaze.

She cocked her head to the side and cleared her throat, Nil's eyes landed on her once again. He put his cup down, "Um. Yes?"

The girl smiled, "Good afternoon Nils san, may I eat with you?"

Nils sighed and gestured to the seat she was standing at, she smiled and nodded. Bella grabbed the plate and glass, Nils was confused about what she was doing. But before he could ask she threw a "one moment please" over her shoulder and scurried away.

Bella looked at the food options with a smile, everything looked so refreshing! She served herself what looked to be lemon pasta, and she grabbed a buttered roll before moving on. Of course, she grabbed some fruit, and a bowl of grapes, and they didn't have dessert so she poured herself some water and walked back. When she came back carrying her own food Nils definitely made a face but didn't say anything.

She sat down and grabbed her cutlery to begin eating, "So Nils san, I was practicing your spells earlier and-"

"I know. I was watching from the garden, you actually did them very well."

His compliment brought a blush to her face, "Thank you. My um, sister also had ice magic so I wasn't too unfamiliar, but your spells are definitely more capable of standing on their own."

The black-haired man tilted his head slightly and rested his chin on his fist, "Hmm. And by that what do you mean?"

Bella finished chewing her bread before answering, "Well she was more of a combat capable fighter so her spells were very simple, ice shards, ice daggers, ice walls, nothing too... complicated. And yours, well they're beautiful! And I'm quite excited to be able to use them. Thank you for lending me your power."
