Chapter 06

Sunlight slices through the blinds of the window, Blade sat beside Blaire who groggily opened her eyes. He caressed her cheek, she smiled softly as she sat up slowly,
"Nothing like that has ever happened before", she says looking down at her hands.
Blade squeezed it lightly,
"Whistler always said you were special and he was right", he said kissing her forehead.

Blaire sighed slowly trying to get out of the bed,
"When I touched that armor piece Blade, I saw everything and felt what he felt", she said shaking her head,
"It was like I had some sort of connection to him that I can't really explain", she stood up as Blade held her tight to his body.

"We'll figure it out, like we always do", Blade stated

Blaire smiled standing on the tip of her toes, kissing his lips,
"Nice to see your finally awake", a voice spoke up as Blaire pulled away,
"I would say the same but rookie trash doesn't fit in my vocabulary", she smiled cheekily seeing King pout and walk away.

Blade pulled her along and she walked along side him as Abigail caught up with them,
"Why wake up Drake now?", Blade asked getting the the bottom of it.

Abigail looked back,
"That's exactly what we've been trying to figure out", she said to them.

"When I was under the fang, their use to be talk about some kind of vampire final solution. But I could never figure out why they'd want to destroy their food source. I mean, that makes no sense, right? They've always had plans for the human race, and it seems likely that whatever they're cooking up, Drakes return is part of it. Let's face it, we are fighting a loosing battle here", King explained. Blaire crossed her arms,
"We've killed hundreds of them every year", she stated.
King nodded,
"Big deal. There are thousands of them out there, maybe tens of thousands. We need a new tactic", King said.

"Like what?", Blade and Blaire chorused.

"A biological weapon", they looked at the woman who built Blades serum inhaler.

"For you sighted people....", she began but Blaire stopped her,
"Hold up, sighted people? Your blind?", she asked to which sommerfield nodded. Blaire looked up at Blade,
"Not bad", she commented.

Sommerfield chuckled,
"Thanks...", she types on her Braille keyboard, the monitor shows a virus replica image,
"Here's a little show and tell. For the last year, I've been working with synthesized DNA in order to create an artificial virus targeted specifically at vampires", she explained. Blaire and Blade walked up to the screen,
"We're calling it Daystar", Sommerfield stated.

Blaire was impressed at her work.
"Think about it, guys. We could wipe'em all out in one single move", King said looking at them.

Blade looked at them,
"So what's been holding you back?", he asked

Sommerfield sighed,
"The lethality in vampires is still spotty", she says.

Abigail cut in,
"The bottom line is we need a better strand of DNA to work with. We need Dracula's blood", she states.

Blaire raised an eyebrow looking at Abigail,
"Why his blood?", she questioned.

"Because Dracula is the progenitor of the vampire race, his DNA is still pure", Blade stared at the monitor as Blaire rubbed his back,
"Is hasn't been diluted by a hundred generations of selective mutation. We get his blood. We can boost day stars viral efficacy to 100%", she said standing next to her daughter.
