Neil POV:
"Just go upstairs and watch to make sure no funny business happens. Report everything back to me even if it's minuscule." Calisto demands of me as he sits behind his desk.
"What exactly should I be looking out for?" I question.
Calisto is seriously off his rocker right now. He's been fidgety and restless ever since Ollie and his parents came to visit. I think he's paranoid that Clara's going to become like her parents. I, on the other hand, think that Ollie being friends with Clara is harmless.
"Just report everything. It doesn't matter what it is. Use your watch to send me live updates. You're dismissed."
My watch is some of the newest technology our technologists have to offer. A holographic keyboard pops up out of the watch, allowing me to type without having to swipe my finger across a tiny screen.
When Calisto finishes his demand, he turns back towards the papers that are on his desk. It's a clear dismissal. Turning on my heel, I leave the room and head towards the elevator. It's still early in the morning. Clara and Ollie should still be asleep.
I step off the elevator and quietly enter Clara's room. She's snuggled up to Ollie and snoring softly. Ollie is sleeping on his back with his arm under Clara's head.
Both babies are fast asleep. I make sure to text Calisto that, then move to sit in the rocking chair. He doesn't want me to take my eyes off the two of them, so I have to sit here.
It's peaceful in the room but sitting here and watching the babies is boring. I'm trying as hard as I can not to fall asleep. There's even a mobile above Clara's crib that's playing soft nursery rhymes, making it hard for me to stay awake.
An hour and a half of exhaustion passes, when Clara finally decides to start waking up. She wiggles a little bit and stretches her arms above her head, a large yawn widening her mouth.
She sits up slowly and turns her head towards Ollie. "Owwie, 'ake uppies." She whispers while shaking his shoulder.
Oliver wakes up and sits up in the crib. He rubs his eyes and yawns. When he spots Clara, a large sleepy smile tips his mouth. "Cwara! Gud mwonin!"
He hugs Clara and I make sure to document it on my watch. "Owwie! Chu gon pway wif me?" Clara asks curiously while gripping the bars of the crib to pull herself up.
Ollie stands next to her and leans in to give her a sloppy, baby kiss on the cheek. Clara giggles and returns his innocent kiss.
Against my boss's orders, I choose to ignore that one. I know he'll freak out and make a scene. They're just toddlers being toddlers. "Tank chu, Cwara."
"Chur 'elcome, Owwie!" Clara says as she bounces happily.
They both haven't spotted me yet, so I just choose to watch the pair of them for a while. The babies talk about toys, games, milk, and their families. Clara brags about her Daddies and Ollie brags about his Mama.
I'm waiting for Grace to enter the room to get Clara for her morning nursing. She's probably watching the cameras in here, listening Ollie and Clara talk.
When Clara suddenly turns her head to point to a shelf next to where I'm sitting, she squeals excitedly when she spots me. "WEIL! CHUR HEWRE!"
A small laugh escapes me as I stand to pick Clara up. She's explaining me to Ollie and telling him all about our little adventures around the house. "Dis Weil." She tells Ollie as I lift her out of the crib.
