P R O L O U G E
I stand outside the doors of the gym, along with everyone else. My friends surround me, happy tears lining the eyes of the girls and excited smiles on the faces of the boys. My hopes for this day, my last day as a high school Senior, have fluctuated throughout the years, varying from time to time. A few years ago, I would've been overjoyed to be staining here just as I am, my gown slightly to big and my cap slightly annoying, the eight of us standing here with massive smiles on our faces. This would've blown my expectations out of the water.
But after last year, this is disappointing in ways that I never would've thought. As of last year there was one more smiling face added to the mix. One with messy brown hair and blue eyes so excited you would've had to grin. One with stark white teeth and plump lips. One that, had it been present, would've brightened the room a thousand times over.
I'm happy to be graduating, really, but there's a part of me that wishes for him to be here. There is a part of me that hopes for him to burst through the doors, his gown ruffled and his cap crooked, and grin brightly at me. For him to profusely apologize, tripping over his words in his rush to express his regret. For him to be cut off with my soft lips on his, for our passion for one another to shine through. But that won't happen, I know he won't come.
Zekes arm gently collides with mine, accompanied by him motioning for me to proceed with the procession towards the awaiting seats. My seat, made of shining grey metal, is set between my friends, near the end of our row. In the few minutes that it takes for everyone to be seated, the principal is onstage, standing tall behind his podium. The staff stands behind him, smiling fondly at some of the students.
"Please welcome the graduating class of 2016" he welcomes as the last of us are seated. He continues with his speech but all I can think of is how much I wish that Tobias had been with us. It seems stupid, being so hung up on someone I had only known for a few months. But he wasn't just someone, he was the only one I've ever loved.
It seems like seconds but is probably minutes later when Zeke nudges me, jutting his chin towards the stage. My name has been called, I'm about to graduate. With a straight back, I march confidently towards the stage, mounting the steps, while focusing on not tripping. The principal shakes my hand and passes my diploma to me, smiling for a moment so my brother can take a picture, he graduated last year. My parents are off on business, as always, but I wish they would've taken time off to see me graduate. I walk off the stage, shaking the protruding hands of the teachers, a fading smile on my face. I take my seat once again, being clapped on the back by my friends, a bright smile on their faces. I cannot muster a grin though, my despair outweighing my happiness.
We rise a while later, joyful smiles woven onto the jovial faces of students.
" Please move your tassels" the principal announces. A collective sound of fabric upon fabric sounds through the room as the students swing the dangling bobble. " Congratulations, Class of 2016"
Caps fly in the air, the deep blues mixing in a blur of color as they fly up only to come crashing back down to be found by the hands of students. My friends join hands, entwining mine with theirs, and throw them in the air, dashing through the doors of the gym, the doors if the school. Out into the parking lot, where we jump in Joyful circles, my sadness momentarily forgotten. But, I can't help but wonder what would've been different if Tobias, my brown haired blue eyed love, had been here.

Together, a sequel to AloneThis is the sequel to Alone( A Fourtris Story). I had Alone planned but I'm not so sure about this one. I'm going to do my best though. I think I've matured as a writer, so expect some better chapters. I'll probably update this once a week like I did with Alone. I hope you guys enjoy this. I decided to do a sequel since I got so much positive feedback on Alone. Don't hesitate to point out my mistakes but I do ask that, if someone's already pointed out a missing comma or something, not to point it out again. I want this to be the best it can be so please tell me what you do and don't like about this. Also, remind me to update, I don't mind. If you want an update, say it. I want to know if people are reading and those comments tell me you want more and yes, I know this is short but the other chapters will be longer.
