Tobias and I stretched across the bed together for a good few hours, just watching the tv and sitting silently beside each other. Tobias had drawn a pig to his chest about an hour ago and was just sitting back down with the other one. Both of the furry animals snuggled into Tobias's warm arms, purring contentedly. Everything was nice. Then the door opened.

At first, I didnt realize anyone had walked in because the show had captured my attention, but when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, my head whipped around. There, in the doorway, stood, possibly the prettiest woman I had ever laid eyes on. Her hair was that of a burning log, a deep, rich brown, with streaks of fire red winding through. Her eyes were the color of jade, a brilliantly dark green that was offset by her hair. Her eyes were large, and on anyone else, they would've looked out of place, but they only enhanced her beauty. With a small nose and delicate mouth, she looked harmless, but something about her made me sure that her looks were deceiving. She was dressed simply, in shorts that showed off her long, tan legs, and a shirt that hugged her petite and beautiful figure perfectly. An aura of comfort blew off her in waves, a kindness reflected in her eyes. She was stunning, and I couldn't help the feeling of jealousy that roared through my stomach like molten lava.

" Hey Toby" She greeted, shocking me. Toby?

"Hey Brooke. This is Tris. Tris, this is Brooke."

Brooke shot me a warm smile, stretching out a hand, one that I gripped and shook.

"Nice to meet you, Tris" She said " Are you Toby's girlfriend?"

"No" I said, just as Tobias nodded vigorously saying "Yes"

"No" I clarified again, shooting a look at Tobias who guiltily smiled back. " I'm just an old friend."

"Ah, alright" she agreed, looking at Tobias suggestively. " Well, thats to bad, you'd make a cute couple."

As Tobias's muscular shoulders shook with silent laughter and I spluttered my disagreement, a phone rang, coming from the shallow back pocket of Brooke's shorts. With a sigh she gingerly placed the pigs on Tobias's chest, putting the device to her ear. She steps away with a frown on her features. I couldn't hear much of her conversation, but her voice was high and sweet as she talked to the person on the other line. Tobias looked at her with a deep concern on his face, his eyes following her pacing form. He turned towards me and leaned into my ear.

"Her little brother. Lives across the country, she misses him" he explains, his eyes following her. Maybe that's why she knows his name, because he's sweet enough to comfort someone with his own secrets.

After a good ten minutes of Tobias watching a pacing Brooke and me occupying myself with the fluffy animals that scuttled across Tobias's shirt, Brooke bid her farewells and viciously wiped at her eyes before shoving the phone into her pocket and dancing back over to Tobias. He took her small hand in his and pushed himself off the bed muttering into her ear. I felt like I was intruding on a moment that I shouldn't be, so, as the pair was preoccupied, I tiptoed from the room. I could hear their hushed whispers from the hallway before I closed the door, and it only made me want to leave faster.

My mind was filled with questions as I made my way back to my dorm room. Who was she? How did she know his name? She couldn't be his girlfriend if she had asked if Tobias and I were together. So, was she just his roommate? How could she just be his roommate if she was that pretty? But she isn't just stunningly attractive, she moves with the grace of a swan and has such a kind smile. Shes wonderful. It's odd, because even though it's unlikely that they're dating, I still feel jealousy rip through me. Besides, Tobias and I aren't together. So it shouldn't matter. Right?
