The argument and guilt

Glimmer's POV

'Athena Belcourt!' The moment my sister's name was reaped I couldn't control myself, I selflessly yelled out four words that will lead to my demise.

'What's your name sweetheart?' district ones escort Maria Bigdiccc politely said 'Glimmer, Glimmer Belcourt' I said as  tears started flooding my eyes, Maria sighs 'Another case of siblings I see'

'Now for the boys!' she yelled, 'Harry Pottah!' she said in a capitol accent, then I heard a familiar voice 'I volunteer as tribute!' I looked at the crowed to catch a glimpse of the boy then I saw....Marvel!

'What's your name dear?' Maria said 'Marvel Stanford' my lover replied. No no no this can't be happening why would he do this, isn't Harry a wizard or something? Can't he just get us out of here? Those thoughts twirled around my head not realizing Maria telling us to shake hands, I look at Marvel and see his expression.... anger and sadness

~At the train~

'Marvel why would you that?' I say 'You think I'm gonna let you risk your life like that?' our heartfelt conversation was interrupted with our mentors the famous brother and sister duo Gloss and Cashmere Grandine. They told us about strategy in the games and how we should form an alliance with the tributes from 2 and 4.

~At the training center~

We met our allies from 2 they are strong, I made friends with the female tribute Clove she is tiny but she can kill you in a second, her skill is throwing knives and wow she never misses a target.

My skill is actually a club or a machete but I can't see those type of weapons here  so I just try archery which I suck at but at least I can position myself. We decided to try and ask the boy from eleven, I think his name is Thresh, who makes Cato look like an ant when standing next to him.

Today is the private training session where we will be scored from 1-12. As Marvel walked out fear took over me, I scanned the room and YES! There was a club, and I know that was meant for me. I picked it up and head up to the robot dummies, I whack there heads off with ease, then I head over to the plants test I got a few mistakes but it was alright, the gamemakers finally let me go when I whack off a robot's head.

Me and Marvel were watching the reaping then I saw 12's female tribute, Katniss Everdeen, she is just like me. We watched the training score today and I got a nine! 'That's great!' Cashmere said, Marvel got a nine as well and Katniss scored an eleven. Marvel, Gloss and Cashmere looked angry but I was proud maybe just maybe she can stop these games once and for all!

~Interview time~ 

'Let's see if she really does sparkle let us all welcome Glimmer!' Ceaser said, my interview went quick the angle we're going for is bubbly yet deadly. After the interviews I came to my senses that this is my last day here in the Capitol and the last time I get to see my friends. When I was alone I crashed on my bed and started to cry I didn't notice that Marvel entered the room 'Glimmer are you crying?' he says 'Why, what's the problem with that?' I say still choking on tears 'Your a CAREER for God's sake' he yelled at me 'So? Just because I'm a career doesn't mean I can't have feelings!' I shout back, 'Damnit Glimmer your gonna die if your like this!' 

Those words stung me like wasps, I was standing there tears forming around my eyes again as Marvel stormed out.

Cashmere's POV

I can hear screaming and sobbing from Glimmer's room I wanted to interfere but my brother held me back saying that Glimmer is a strong girl and she can manage...how am I going to tell Gloss that this same exact thing happened to me in my games?

Author's POV

Glimmer was standing on the platform with only 10 seconds left, tears still stained her cheeks from the argument with Marvel last night. 5...4...3...2...1 The gong rang as everybody ran to the cornucopia except Finch and Peeta. Our protagonist found a club amongst the weapons but to her dismay someone already took it and that someone was Thresh. Glimmer had no choice but get the bow and arrow and prayed that maybe she could hit an animal with it for food.

1st day

~Glimmer's POV~

Today we found Peeta trying to find stuff from the cornucopia, Marvel was about to finish him off when Clove said that maybe we ca n use him to find Katniss, I don't want her to die but since I had no power against the other careers I kept quiet. Us careers decided to hunt down some food but Cato insisted for us to hunt tributes instead. We soon found Clara the girl from district 8 who was dumb enough to start a fire.

Cato broke the silence  'FIRE GIRL IS OVER THERE!'  he shrieked. Startling us and Katniss. He quickly climbed the tree but one branch couldn't support his weight so went falling back down face first, clove and marvel laughed but I just kept staring at the ground, just then Cato yelled at me to shoot Katniss, I positioned myself and purposely aimed it somewhere not even close to her. Katniss shot a "Seriously?" glare at us making Cato more angry than he already is.

Night time

Author's POV

Glimmer who was awake tossed and turned to see the other careers, Clato were sleeping together, Marina was slumped on Katniss's tree, Marvel was snoring loudly, and Peeta who was also awake chatted with Glimmer for awhile.

They talked about their home life, how the both of them got heartbroken by their crush, and how their mothers hate them. It was a heartfelt conversation between two heartbroken people. They share advice to each other on how to comfort yourself, it was probably the only time in the games that Glimmer felt someone truly cared for her.

In the morning

~Marvel's POV~

I felt my skin burning, I opened my eyes to see thousands of tracker jackers swarming towards us. Cato bolted to the lake as me and Clove were struggling to get away from these bugs, then I caught sight of Glimmer. She was screaming for help, I was going to help her but then Clove and Cato latched on me and dragged out of there.

I was kicking and screaming like a little toddler who didn't get the toy they wanted, I was begging Cato to at least  let me see Glimmer before she's taken away by the hovercraft, he let me go and I sprinted towards the scene, she was covered with bumps across her body. 

Guilt overwhelmed me, the last thing I ever said to her was that she would die and lo and behold she did...because of me, maybe if I just said the words 'I love you' to her one last time my guilt would be less. I was crying over her lifeless body regretting everything I said before whispering something in her ear...'I'll see you soon glimmie'.
