Chapter 1:

“Delilah Grace, if you don’t wake up now you can forget about your flight!” my mom yells from downstairs.

I roll out of bed, my feet hitting the cold floor. I groan as I make myself stand up. As I peel open the curtains, I’m aware of the darkness. This city never sleeps, I think as I look down at the cars that race by, even at this hour.

My older brother Aiden is taking me to England to see One Direction in concert. I’ve been looking forward to this day for months, and in 3 days, it will be all over. Aid got accepted to the college of his choice on full scholarship, so he told me he’d take me to London. It’s been my dream to visit England for years. Aiden’s using part of the money he saved up for college to take me. Mom thinks it’s a bad idea, but Aiden’s proud enough to hold up on his promise.

Supposedly, this concert is for my birthday, but that’s next month. June 17th.

I pull my luggage from my closet and it thumps to the floor. I packed it last night, and I barely remember what I put in there. I shrug and silently hope I packed everything I needed. I grab my iPod from my dresser and shove my headphones in my pocket.

My suitcase thumps on each step as I drag it down the stairs. Aiden is seated at the island counter eating his breakfast. He gives me a wide grin when he sees me. I smile back at him and drop my suitcase right in the middle of the room. Mom rolls her eyes at me.

“Oh, look who decided to come downstairs,” she says sarcastically. I fall back onto the couch and prop my feet up on the coffee table. Mom hands me a steaming cup of tea and smacks my feet with a dish towel. I groan and move my feet, accepting the tea graciously.

Aiden yells at the TV enthusiastically, screaming at the football game on tv. I roll my eyes and put my headphones in.

“You’re grumpy, considering we are flying to frickin’ England for you today,” Aiden says.

“Well, it’s 5 in the morning. How am I supposed to be excited at this hour?” I groan.

“You have no problem getting up at 5 in the morning to go on runs,” Mom adds.

“Yeah, yeah,” I mutter. I don’t really have a sarcastic response for them right now. When Aiden finally finishes his food, I think he was going turtle speed on purpose, we throw our bags into the car. “Jeez, are you moving there?” Aiden asks me when he sees my 3 bags.

“I’m a teenage girl, Aid,” I say, rolling my eyes at him. Aiden and I rush back inside to say our goodbyes to Mom.

“Bye honey,” she says squeezing me tight. “I can’t believe you’ll be 17 when I see you next. Have fun at your concert. I love love love you.” Mom always says love 3 times. It’s her thing.

“I love you too, Mom,” I smile at her. It’s like all my dreams were coming true. One Direction and London, all in one trip.

“You better take good care of her,” Mom says looking at Aiden. She walked down onto the sidewalk to wish us goodbye.  “Don’t let any of those rock stars take her away,” Mom says with a wink and she lets Aiden free of her tight embrace. I wave one last time and walk out to Aiden’s Land Rover. We jump in the car and head to the airport. When we finally get there, it’s quarter to 6. “Got the plane tickets?”

  “Check,” he says.

  “Passports?”

  “Yes, Mother.”

“How bout my One Direction tickets?!?!”

“Oh shit, I think I left those at home!”

“ADIEN JASON MORGAN!” I yell. “Don’t even go there.”
