Chapter 33:

“LOUIS WILLAIM TOMLINSON,” I yell. “Put me the hell down!”

“No way,” he says running towards the pool. The lads run after us, Niall laughing as he follows. I can see Harry grinning cheekily as I bounce with the rhythm of Louis’ fast strides. He gives me a wink before Zayn opens the gate to the pool area.

Louis brings me off his shoulder and into his arms, bridal style. Liam comes over and grabs my legs as Harry takes my left foot, and Louis my left.

Niall takes out my camera, which I didn’t know he had, and smiles. “Say cheese, Del.”

“1,” Louis, Harry, and Liam say simultaneously as they swing my body over the crystal clear water.

“2,” Niall puts the camera up to his face, his finger on the flash.

“3!” they swing me one last time, higher than the first two times. I sail through the air, a rush of adrenaline in my veins. I shriek loudly before smacking against the water. I sink down under the surface, the cool water surrounding me. My clothes soak completely through and my hair surrounds me like a flowing cape under the pristine water. I kick my feet to the surface, and swim to the edge of the pool. I put my hands flat against the stone ground and pull my dripping body from the pool.

The boys are roaring with laughter. Niall holds his stomach as his head flies back in a fit of laughter. His laugh is so freaking heavenly. Harry leans on Louis and cracking up as well. Zayn and Liam lean on the fence. Liam laughs loudly, his brown eyes sparkling. Zayn’s body shakes as he chuckles with his arms firmly folded across his chest.

I walk straight over to Louis, and I narrow my eyes and lower my head to look angry. My hair falls in front of my face, and my wet clothes hang off of my dainty frame. “Louis, you are so dead,” I look up at him and change my face to a mischievous expression instead of angry. His eyes widen at my statement. I grab on his huge bicep and pull him to the edge of the pool. I smile cheekily before pushing him in.

Niall laughs loudly as Louis plummets under the surface. He kicks up immediately and smiles up at me. “I think I deserved that,” he says.

“You sure did,” I say with a triumphant grin.

“Damn, Del, you must be strong,” Harry says approaching me. He takes hold of my bicep and squeezes it gently. He grins cheekily as he tries to push me back in the pool as I’m momentarily distracted. I grab his wrist and pull him in with me at the last second. We both topple onto Louis and he surfaces with a loud groan. Harry and I laugh.

Niall runs across the stones and launches himself into the air. I swear that boy can fly. He tucks himself into a ball and lands with a massive splash, spraying Louis, Harry and I in the pool, and even soaking Liam and Zayn on land.

“Oh no!” Louis says. “Zayn’s hair is messed up.”

“I’m gonna kill you, Tommo,” Zayn growls.

“Come at me bro,” Louis says cheekily as he swims into the deep end. Zayn pulls out a pool floaty, the kind that you lay down on with a cup of lemonade, and throws it in the water. He jumps on cautiously and lies on his stomach. He paddles with his arms hanging off the sides of the floaty towards Louis. I can’t help but burst out laughing, and all the other boys join me. Zayn clumsily follows Louis around as he swims around the pool at top speed.

Liam jumps in as well, doing a perfect dive from the diving board. All the boys’ clothes hang off their muscular bodies. I find my eyes wandering to Niall’s defined abs through his wet t-shirt. I’m jealous that he eats so much and is so fit. Harry climbs out of the water and does a back flip from the side of the pool. He hits his head on Zayn’s floaty and Zayn yells at him. Louis pulls a huge blow up banana from the box holding the pool supplies and puts it between his legs. He jumps into the water and the banana flies into the air as his legs smack the surface.

We mess around in the pool until the sun starts to go down. After we get out, we run to the lawn to finish our football match. We play until our clothes dry. The cold grass feels so good on my bare feet as I chase Harry and Niall across the field. My hair whips behind me and I laugh loudly. Liam runs up behind me and takes me in his arms, and spins me around. I throw my head back laughing as the world spins around me.

The final score is 8 to 3, Louis, Zayn, and I. By the time we call it quits on the football game, it’s almost completely dark.

“Well that was fun,” Harry says. His curls stick to his forehead, drenched in sweat. Louis walks next to him as we make our way back towards the house. His soccer ball is pressed against his hip, with his left arm slung over it.

“Hey, let’s have a bonfire on this brilliant summer night,” Liam suggests.

Once the fire is started, the boys and I sit around it on the grass. I sit on Louis’ lap as Niall fetches the food. Harry and Zayn went to collect sticks for roasting marshmallows. Niall returns, his arms full of chocolate, graham crackers, and a bag of Jet Puffed.

He rips the marshmallows open and shoves 4 in his mouth. “Thank you America!” he says between bites.

The boys and I sit there, just talking and laughing. We make s’mores and tell stories by the light of the fire. Louis keeps us laughing. Niall grabs my hand as he makes me a s’more. He turns his head to look at me as I squeeze his fingers in my own.

When we’re done with s’mores, they boys and I lay out on the grass. We lay in a circle, with our heads together, admiring the bright stars overhead. Niall stills grasps my hand, and my other hand rests across my chest, absentmindedly fingering my key necklace.

“I haven’t had this much fun in so long,” Harry sighs.

“I know, I wish we could do this all the time,” Liam says.

“It’s nice to be so carefree…” Zayn mutters.

“Forever young, lads. Forever young,” Louis says.

“I want to be forever young,” I sing.

“Summer should be like this!” Harry says. “Being arseholes and having a laugh.”

“Wouldn’t trade our lives for the world, mate,” Liam responds.

  “Absolutely not,” Zayn says.

“Plus, we’re arseholes everyday anyway!” Louis shouts.

“Del, you make it more fun though. Y’know that?” Niall says turning his head to face me. His lips are only about 6 inches away from mine, and I can feel his warm breath on my cheek. I wish there was less space between us. I smile in the darkness, a warm blush creeping to my cheeks.

“I just don’t want to grow up, mate,” Harry sighs.

“You sound like Peter Pan,” Liam says with a laugh. Harry sits up and punches him in the balls. “Ow…,” Liam gasps.

“We’ll never grow up,” Niall laughs.

“LOUIS TOMLINSON DOES NOT GET OLD,” Louis yells.

“This face will be sexy forever,” Zayn says with a chuckle.

“You guys are too much,” I say closing my eyes.

“But you love us,” Harry cheekily says.

  “That’s for sure.”
