Chapter 31:
After I finally drag El outside and back into the living room, the girls and I collapse on the couch once more.
I’ve just gotten into the stupid show on TV, when my phone goes off. My blares ringtone blares ‘Up All Night’, and when I look at the glowing screen of my cellphone, it’s Louis. I shoot Dani a glance and go out on the balcony to answer it.
“Hey, Lou, what’s up?”
“Del, we’re having a meeting with Simon in a couple hours. Are you coming back home?”
I love how he calls it ‘home’, as if it’s my home, not just his. “Yeah, of course. If you guys need me there,” I respond.
“Yeah, but I mean if you’re needed there…” he trails off. I can tell he’s thinking about Eleanor. I’m proven right when he speaks again, “How’s El?” he whispers.
“She’s… um, she’s good,” I shut my eyes and softly. I can hear Louis’ heavy breaths on the other side of the phone as I pause. “She’s miserable.”
“Me too. Uh, do you mind delivering a message to her for me?” he asks, the lightheartedness was completely drained from his attitude, talking about Eleanor really brings him down.
“Sure, what is it Lou?”
“We have a concert in a few days, and I was wondering if you would ask her to come with you.”
“Yeah, yeah I’ll ask her,” I say, a bit distracted. I wonder why he wants El to come. It’s been about 2 weeks, and they’ve both been a mess the whole time. The last time Eleanor came to a concert was the night the two of them broke up.
“Thanks Delllllly,” he says with a little bit of his normal energy. “See ya in a bit.”
“Yeah I’ll be right over,” I press the end button and walk back out to the girls again. “The boys need me at home,” I start. “But I’ll see you guys at the concert?”
Danielle jumps up and gives me a big hug, and Perrie joins in as well. Eleanor awkwardly remains on the couch as the three of us hug. “C’mere El, I’ll be seeing you at the concert, too,” I say.
She lifts her eyebrows at my remark, but stands up to join the hug as well. When we release she looks at me again, confusion knitting her eyebrows. “Why? Louis and I…” she trails off as her face contorts in sadness.
“Louis asked me to ask you to come,” I shrug.
“Oh… okay, for you, Delilah,” a small smile creeps on her face as she looks at me.
“I’ll see you guys later, okay?” I had to change back into my other clothes from last night at the club because they were they only clothes I had. I grab my phone and rush out of Dani’s flat. I decide to wait for a bus.
A lot of cars drive by, but the bus is taking forever. The wind blows, and I can see the sky subsiding to a dreary grey. I decide to call one of the boys.
Harry picks up on the 3rd or 4th ring. “Would you come pick me up, Harold?”
“Hi, Del,” I can almost see his cheeky grin with prominent dimples through the phone.
“Harrrrrrrry pleeeeeeeease,” I whine.
“How are you? How’s the weather, love?” he asks with a small laugh.
“HARRY EDWARD STYLES.”
“Fine, where are you?” he asks with a laugh.
“Ugh, I don’t know. Kennsington Street,” I say glancing at a road sign to my right. “Uhh by this building thing.”
