I got home and I was a bit tired from the bike ride home, but I love it. Great exercise. I get home and the moment I step in the house with my stuff, I smell chicken and noodles. I got excited because it was our Chinese take-out night. I walk into the kitchen and Panda Express is all over the dining table. There is orange chicken, noodles, fried rice, cream cheese ragoons, and everything we order. They even got a little bit of sushi. California roll and Dragon Roll, my favorite.
I notice my mom getting plates and she notices me.
"Hi, sweety." My mom said excitedly.
"I didn't know Chinese take-out night came early and we usually pick it up later. What are you doing home so early?" I replied confused, but excited at the same time.
"Well, I wanted to surprise you." She said.
"Is something going on that I should know about?" I asked.
My mom was so excited that she just blurt it out.
"I got promoted which means I have a bigger salary!" She said with such excitement.
I took a moment for the news to sink in. I couldn't believe it. We can finally move and sustain ourselves better.
"That's amazing, Mom!" I said with much as excitement as her.
"I know." She said.
"I am sorry to ask this so soon. Are we going to get a better house?" I asked waiting for her response.
"That's the next thing I wanted to tell you. I am looking for a new house with another room and bathroom. It will be a little bit farther from school, but I can think you can manage to that with your bicycle."
"That's absolutely fantastic! This is really something to celebrate about!" I said.
"I know!" She said as she continued getting the food.
"Well, I am going to freshen up so we can eat dinner because all of this food in my face is making me hungry." I said and gave my mom a big hug and she hugged me back.
I left the kitchen and went down the hall to my room with a smile on my face and millions of songs running through my head. This is the moment I have been waiting for. What you don't realize is that after my dad left my mom and I when I was five, he didn't leave us any financial support. We had to start from the bottom. With help from many of our neighbors and trustworthy friends, we made it through. I even got a job last year to help my mom. I have a job at the public library which I love working because when I am not doing anything, I can catch up on the book I am currently reading. The people are so nice at the library. I have a bunch of friends there that I hangout with from time to time(outside of work of course). The manager is so nice for giving me the job. He understood where I am coming from, but that wasn't the only reason he hired me. This is a very big improvement in this household. I have been wanting a room that I could paint my favorite quotes on the wall and have tons of bookshelves with my books all organized. Right now, a bunch of my books are in stacks on the floor, on my desk, on the two small bookshelves that I have and every little corner that I can put them. I want them to be in bookshelves, all nice, organized, and clean. Now I have so much exciting news to tell my best friend Isabella, which she knows everything of everything about me. I am so excited about everything, but right now I just want to eat some Chinese and Japanese food.
-------------------------------------------------
After the delicious and big dinner, I went to my room. I was so full. Well, I will burn it off tomorrow morning. I was so full of happiness right now. I had to tell my best friend Isabella. She has known the full story since the beginning. She has practically helped me live through most of this tribulation in our lives. Whenever my mom worked nights, Isabella was right there offering me to stay at her place for the night. I am always welcome at her house. Her mom loves me being there. I mean she ADORES me. My mom and her mom are pretty close, so my family and her family have a pretty close relationship. Sometimes my mom and I come over their house for dinner. Most of the time we return the favor. Isabella always comes to hang out, and sometimes her mom tags along because we invite them for dinner. That is the reason I had to tell Isabella the great news, becuase I know she will happy for me as I am. Actually instead of sending her a text saying to call me, I am just going to call her straight away. If I can find my phone.
I go down the hall and see my mom on the couch watching TV. My bag is next to her with my phone and everything.
"Forget something?" My mom said as I walked in.
"Ya, my bag which has my stuff that I need." I said.
"Well it's right here where you left it." She said, pointing to it.
"Thanks Mom. I am glad to say for the second time, I am very excited about the upcoming days." I said with a big smile.
"I am too. We are finally gonna get a break." She said with a face of relief.
"Well I am going to head to my room if you need me." I said.
"Good night." She said with love and happiness. I know she did.
"Good night." I replied back as I walked to my room.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I lay on my bed. I get my phone and try to call Isabella. I am excited to tell her about the great news for my mom and I, but I am nervous about telling her something else. I want to tell her about the conversation between me and James. I wonder what she will say. The last time I talked about him to her, I barely knew him and to me he was creepy. Now that I had a full conversation with him, that impression flew out the window. Whatever, I am going to call her and tell her everything that has happened today, whether she likes or not.
I dial her number. Actually her number is on speed dial because she is my closest friend. I call her and there are a few rings ring before somebody picks up.
"Hello." Isabella said.
"Hey, I have a couple of things to tell you." I said.
"Well then, tell me. You don't want to keep me waiting." She said with a bit of sarcasm.
"First thing is that my mom told me some exciting news for the both of us. She actually came home early and got take-out. Usually when that happens she is here super late. The food was delicious, by the way," I was just rambling on, jumping from one thing to another.
"Stop rambling, get to the point." She said. She stops my rambling many times.
"Well, my mom got a promotion and she is getting a bigger salary which also means that we may be getting a bigger house!" I said, not too fast.
"That is great! Your luck finally turned. I am so happy for you guys. You know what, I am going to make my famous red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting for us to celebrate. You can bring some to your mom." She said, a little fast.
"Ya, the cake idea sounds delicious. I just needed to tell you this because you have been with me in this trial since the beginning, so you always need to know if something big happens, like this." I said with a smile on my face. I am happy when I talk to Isabella.
"Of course. I am always happy to help with any problem towards this trial, as you said. Our families are so close it's not even funny. I am glad it's that way." She replied.
"Ya, me too." I said. There was a silence after I said that. It was a good silence. It was like one of those moments you just enjoy for what it is. I broke the moment.
"I have something else to tell you. This is not concerning my mom and I. This is something that happened at school today." I said, trying to take it slow.
"What happened? Tell me, now." She said with a bit of excitement.
"Well, I had a conversation with James. An actual conversation with James." I said, hoping for an answer.
"Wait, What?!" That's what she said after I told her the other news.
I couldn't tell if she was happy or worried or just plainly angry.

Hi everybody!
This chapter is about Mia's life and little bit of her past. I felt I needed to give some background to this character. Then I went straight to the drama.
