This time when I wake in the morning, I am completely aware of where I am and where that familiar warmth is coming from. I know where the musk scent is wafting from and I know who that hand on my heart belongs to.
"Wake up angel." Arlos voice stirs me awake. I meet my eyes but they are squinted with the early hours, it's still dark, why is Arlo waking me up so early?
"Why are you waking me up? It's still dark."
"Sunrise. Wait till you see the ones here." His hand brushes down my hair and down my spine. It sparks a shiver down my spine and then all of a sudden that brings me to my senses and my awareness of my firm grim on Arlo. I open my eyes more and then release a bit of the pressure and then finally sit up.
Arlos hand still rests on the lower side of my back and then he stands up.
He walks over and unzips my suitcase and pulls out a big fluffy jacket for me, then heads over to his suitcase and pulls out another one.
"It's going to be colder with the morning breeze."
"How long have you been awake?" I ask. How long have I been grabbing your shirt like someone was about to rip me away from you?
"Only a few minutes before I woke you."
I yawn.
He walks over and brings the jacked around myself and helps me as I slide my arm from the sleeves. He puts his on and he takes my hand and leads me outside, onto the balcony.
From under the roof panel, he slides down a ladder, which I had no Idea existed.
"After you." He says, holding one side of the ladder.
With a million questions in my head and a million more thoughts running in my mind, it is too early and I am still walking up to bother getting the words out.
I start to climb up the ladder. I feel Arlos hands on my hips just as I reach the top, he follows after me and before I know it, we are on the roof.
I rub my eyes and they finally adjust to my surroundings. The view is quite the same from up here, looking over the whole village, but it's higher and the trees that consumed the edges of the landscape from the balcony, aren't even in sight from the height. I can see the faint colours of pink that sleep on the horizon, the whispers of a sunrise starting.
Arlo sits down, resting his elbows against his knees., and I move to sit down next to him. I'm not tired any more, not even a little bit, in fact I feel more energetic than I have in a while. I don't know if there is some Moroccan drug in the air or some shit. But right now I am feeling oddly alive and at peace.
"I'm really not a morning person, Arlo." I admit.
"I can tell."
I huff a small laugh.
"It'll be worth it." He says.
We sat there for a few moments, the early morning breeze drifting through my hair, and the first glimpses on light appearing.
"Arlo?" I say, looking over at him.
"Yes?"
"Can you tell me about your family?" I say. I'm sure he will be shocked by the question, and judging by the furrowed brows that are displayed on his face, he looks to be exactly that. Frankly I'm shocked by my question too. I have never quite been the one known to be interested in anyone's life but my own, and even with that, I take no particular interest in my own life. But oddly I am interested in Arlos. I know that he has two sisters and a mother and father. From the little information that I have about their family, they seem to be close. They are like a... family. I guess. Though that's what all families should be like. They would be constant. It's exactly like that quote I once read; Boys will come and go, friends will come and go, but family. Family is forever.
