Jasmine's P.O.V

"Finally you're home", Mum yelled from the kitchen. "Uncle Ben will arrive anytime soon."

I threw my bag on the couch and walked to the kitchen following the smell of Mum's delicious food.

"I hope Alexander won't be late.", she sighed.
I decided not to tell her, I'll just pretend I didn't know anything.

I noticed that the oven was turned on.
"What are you baking?", I asked looking through the oven's glass.

"Apple pie", she smiled proudly.

My eyes widened as if I were told we're going on a vacation. I took a deep breath letting the warm sweet scent of cinnamon fill my lungs.

Mum took the apple pie out of the oven and put it on the counter to cool down.
I admired that beauty.

"Don't you dare touching it", Mum said with a scary tone.
I laughed as I raised my hands up in surrender.

The doorbell rang. Mum ran to the door like a little kid chasing the ice cream truck, I chuckled and followed her.

"Uncle Ben!", she yelled excitedly. A tall man with broad shoulders stood there holding a suitcase with a grin on his face.

"My little niece I've missed you so much", he said dropping his suitcase and giving her a hug.

"I missed you more!", Mum said hugging Uncle Ben back.

Then they turned to me. Uncle Ben gasped and raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Jasmine.. You've grown up!", he said, still surprised.
Well obviously I did. I just smiled and felt my cheeks blush.

"You look like your mother a lot now.", he continued. "I remember you with your pigtails."

Mum and I laughed. I remember that too, Mum made me wear pigtails almost everyday. She used to say I look like a little bunny.

"Where's Alex?", Uncle Ben asked all of a sudden.
I tried so hard not to laugh at that. Alexander absolutely hated being called 'Alex'. I can imagine him turning red from anger if he heard that.

------

We were going to bed and Alexander wasn't home obviously. Mum was so worried. She called him a million times but he wouldn't answer her phone calls.

I felt really guilty hiding it from her.

"Maybe he's staying at one of his friend's house.", I hinted.
"Like who?", she asked.
I quickly shrugged my shoulders.

I can't tell her, she'll probably go drag him home. Also, I'm pretty sure Alexander will be mad at me.

"Good night, Mum", I said after a long silence.
"Good night", she said half-smiling, I could see the concern in her eyes.

I went to my room and slid under my blanket. I reached my phone and decided to call Alexander but then decided not to.. He won't answer anyway. Besides, I didn't want Mum to hear me.
So I decided to text him.

'Mum is worried about you, at least tell her where you are..', I typed.
I pulled my blanket up covering my cold nose waiting for him to reply.
It took him a while.

'Fine I'll call her tomorrow.', he sent.

I sighed and rolled on my side fixing my pillow.
He won't tell her, will he?

The house smelled amazing! Mum's pancakes for breakfast.

I rushed downstairs saying a quick 'good morning' to have some of this heaven.
