Watching Brett lay down on the bed doing nothing just hurted him. He could literally see the life drain away from Brett. He may be known for having a dead look on his face but this was different. He looks so pale and sad. It made him feel guilty.
Soon enough, he heard sniffing from Brett again. The sniffles would usually go on and off and Eddy couldn't really do anything about it. He felt so useless.
"Why do you have to go?" Brett whimpered, like a little kid scared of the thunder.
"I'm sorry. I wish I was still there." Eddy mumbled, holding back tears.
"You said we'd do everything together."
"I know."
Eddy wrapped his arms around him as the sobs wracked Brett's body. He had never seen Brett breakdown like this. The way he curls himself as he cries is painful to watch. Eddy wiped the tear rolling on his cheek and sighed "Don't worry, Brett. I'll stay with you no matter what."
As he was hugging him, a knock can be heard. He watched Brett who quickly stood up and wiped away his tears. Eddy followed him, curious on who could be the visitor. A smile formed in his lips as he saw some familiar faces. It was Shaun and Sophie! It's been a while since they've seen them.
Eddy tried to wave at them, only to realize that none of them could see him. It made it worse when they all walked past him. He let out a sigh and just continued to follow them. He was still glad that they came over though. They tried their best to lift his best friend’s mood up by bringing some hotpot and bubble tea for all of them. Of course, Brett wasn’t budging. It didn’t take long for Brett to break down again.
Seeing his friend upset because of him, just made him even more guilty. He couldn’t even comfort him for god’s sake! Shaun and Sophie were doing it for him! If it wasn’t for this stupid disease, he would’ve been completely fine but looks like fate had different plans. Eddy had to watch Shaun and Sophie comfort Brett while he was there, doing nothing. All he could do was sit and stare and watch this awful movie on going.
It took Brett almost 15 minutes until Brett finally calmed down.
