They're Driving Me Crazy!

Halloween

Fall break had ended a couple weeks ago. My brothers came and embarrassed me a little when they were at my band competition but that's just what brothers do. I had gone to the mall with the band afterwards, a normal tradition after band competitions, and they had followed us there. I hated it but at least I could hang out with friends without being interrupted.

It was now the day before Halloween. I was excited because I was supposed to be going over to Andy's house and spending the night. We always pull all nighters and he has like a secret stash of stuff for me to snack on because of my blood sugar problems.

I was getting my bag packed for the night and getting ready to go when Coby, Hayden, and Zack came into my room and saw me packing. "Deciding to run away?" Zack joked.

"No I'm just going to a friend's house for the night." I said.

Hayden and Zack looked a little sad. I noticed it and felt bad. "I'll only be gone until like eight in the morning. We can still do all our traditions like we usually do on Halloween." I smiled and they immediately got happier.

Coby looked at me. "Whose house is it again?"

"Andy's." I said and looked at the time. "And we need to get going if I'm gonna get there when he wants me to."

Coby smirked. "You know, Andy's older brothers and I used to hang out a lot. We're still good friends."

"Mhm yeah. Nice. Just better not be out there whenever I'm staying over." I said and he didn't say anything else. He was thinking.

Coby dropped me off at Andy's. "Call us if you need anything." He said before driving off.

I walked into Andy's house and we did our normal handshake for when we greet each other. I put my bag in his room and we went to the kitchen first. "So, the plan is:me and you are gonna play video games for a couple hours-or minutes, then go into the clearing in the woods we hang out in, then come back in and carve pumpkins and make cookies, and then we can watch scary movies." He said, planning the whole night out.

I nodded and sat on the counter in the kitchen while he walked around and got snacks for our video game session. I then groaned. "Is your brother that lives in y'all's pool house most of the time here?"

"Yeah I'm pretty sure he is. Why?" Andy asked and turned around with a bunch of gummies in his arms.

"Coby might show up. He wants to terrorize me. My other brothers might show up too but I don't know."

"COACH DARON MIGHT BE COMING?!" Andy started freaking out.

I sighed. "Him and your brothers were real good friends and I guess they still talk. I hope he doesn't show up." I crossed my arms.

Andy finally calmed down. "Well come on. We gotta get going if we want to do anything fun before the joy kills get here. I'm talking about all our brothers." He said.

I laughed and we went into his living room and brought some wooden chairs from the kitchen in to sit on.

Half way through our first game he decided to ask me something. "Hey, why do you live with your oldest brother? Why not your parents?" He paused the game and looked at me. "If you don't mind me asking."

I looked at him and smiled a little. "Oh um..whenever Coby went to college, things got heated at home. I dealt with it for the years he was gone but when he got back, I had had enough. I asked him if I could come live with him and even though he wasn't that financially stable yet, since he had just gotten out of college, he let me live with him. He actually gained custody of me too." I explained.
