Down Time

I was just trying to relax after football practice.

I just wanted to watch a scary movie because it was October and fall break.

Why can't he just be still and watch it with me.

"Coby! Sit down and stop getting up and walking around! We're watching The Boy, it's one of my favorite movies." I said and Coby finally sat down next to me on the couch.

I turned it on on Netflix and he sighed. "You know I'm not much for scary movies Maddy." He said and I smirked.

"That's why I'm making you sit down and watch one. It's not even that scary." I said and leaned on him while the opening credits played.

"I didn't mean to push you so hard at practice today. I feel bad about your hand." Coby said and I shrugged it off.

"Eh I've had worse happen. Like when I actually broke it." I chuckled and got a look from Coby. I just smiled and went back to watching the tv.

After a few minutes a doll was shown in the movie and Coby threw his head back and groaned. "Oh Noo! Why the doll?" He asked and I laughed. I took pride in torturing my older brother. He kept making me pause it every time he needed to take a minute from the adrenaline he was getting from the suspense. Each time I'd get on my phone while I waited and I texted Andy, one of my best friends, and showed him the movie we were watching.

I had first seen it when I was sleeping over at his house and we wanted to watch a scary movie like we normally do. He picked it out and we can never get scared by movies because we make fun of what's happening too much. Horror movies don't scare me, it's just the paranoia afterwards that I'm worried about.

About 20 minutes into the movie there was a knock on the door. It made both of us jump but I got up and answered the door before Coby could get up. I opened the door and I smiled. My other two brothers were there. "Hayden! Zack!" I said and hugged them both before letting them walked inside. "I didn't know you guys were coming." I said and Coby walked into the entryway and saw them.

"They're staying until the first. I wanted it to be a surprise since you barely get to see them anymore." Coby said and I ran and hugged him.

"Yeah you guys went and left me to go to college." I joked.

"Well not everybody can have the intelligence of a college student Maddy." Hayden said.

"Yeah, you were on a college reading level before you even got to high school." Zack added and I shrugged.

"Not my fault I got the smart genes." I said and all three of my brothers looked at each other before Hayden and Zack dropped their bags and ran at me. I took this as my cue to run. So I did. I laughed as my brothers chased me down the hall and around the house.

We all eventually ended up back in the living room and I started the movie again. "Do we really have to keep watching this?" Coby asked.

"I was hoping we could start it over so we could watch it together." Hayden said, knowing the reason as to why our oldest brother didn't want to watch the movie.

"I like the way you think Hayden." I said and restarted the movie, hearing Coby groan.

We were at the part where Brahms came out of the wall and I was recording it on Snapchat. I sent it to one of my friends that I like tormenting with the fact that I somewhat simp over some slashers. Mainly ghostface and right now Brahms. Hayden looked at me when he saw me recording and he snatched my phone. "What's this? Why are you recording this greasy man come out of the wall?" He asked.

"Because I'm showing my friend what movie we're watching. Now give it back." I said and snatched my phone and sent it before he could do anything else.

When the movie was over Coby made me go get a shower first. I got one pretty quick so I could hang out with Hayden and Zack for a while. Coby went to get his shower and Hayden, Zack, and I ran over to the tv where my Xbox was. We all grabbed a controller and started a game on Call of Duty. We started a game that was a 3v3 and we laughed and fought but we weren't actually fighting.

Coby came in and told us to stay quiet if we were gonna play games all night. He didn't really get playing video games or stuff like that so he never wanted to play them with me. He made Hayden get a shower next since he was still the oldest and thought he could boss everyone around. I was the only one still in high school and it sucked because that meant I was the youngest but it gave me privileges. I was the baby of the family which meant none of my brothers could bully me or hit me, which they would never hit me in the first place, but it also meant I could bully them and do whatever I want to them without any consequences as long as it didn't go too far.

Hayden got a shower while me and Zack changed it to Rocket League while we waited. When Hayden got out Zack went and got a shower while Hayden and I played Rocket League. Zack got out of the shower and we turned the game back on Call of Duty and we played for a while.

We raged after one game and we were so loud Coby came out with his belt and said, "If y'all don't quiet down I'm whooping all of you. I'm not playing." He said and we all turned to look at him.

"You're not gonna do anything to us. Especially Maddy, remember what mom and dad said? She'll call them and have dad whoop you." Hayden smirked and the three of us laughed while Coby glared and went back to his room to finish some work.

I had band practice tomorrow even though it was fall break, then the game on Friday, and my band competition on Saturday. I could stay up all night though since practice wasn't until later in the afternoon. We switched to a different game that was multiplayer and we raged kind of hard on it too. Coby came back out and stood in front of the tv. "What's the big idea Coby?" Zack asked, kind of irritated.

"I told y'all to keep it down. I meant it. Turn this thing off and all of y'all go to bed. I didn't want to get mad on the first night you two got here but I'm trying to finish work and then grade papers." Coby said and crossed his arms.

"We're not turning it off just because you don't wanna close your door." Hayden said and crossed his arms. He and Coby had a staring contest for a few seconds before Coby walked back in his room.

Hayden thought he had won but he was most sorely mistaken. Emphasis on the sorely. Coby came back out of his room with one of his belts and walked into the living room. We realized what was actually happening and we all got up and ran. Coby ran after us and I was so glad I had put stuff on in case we needed to to do physical activity. I was gonna be tired as hell by the time I got to bed.
