What do you think about Thad?" Blaine asked, sitting next to Kurt in the library.

"He's okay, quite quiet which is nice when you're rooming with Xavier."

"Oh, I know all about that, I'm with Jeff and Sebastian." Blaine said, chuckling.

"He's honestly okay though, I think he's just nervous about being in a new school." Kurt said.

"Yeah, our friendship group is quite a lot to get used to. He'll fit in fine though." Blaine replied. "What are you working on?"

"History homework." Kurt said, showing Blaine what he was writing. "It's due tomorrow and I forgot all about it."

"Do you need help with it?"

"Blaine... you've never been to a history class in your entire life." Kurt said, staring at him. "I might as well ask Xavier for help."

Blaine chuckled and leaned back in his seat, watching as Kurt continued to write in his history notebook.

Blaine was grateful every day that him and Kurt were best friends.

When Kurt moved to Dalton Academy, he was terrified. Just coming from a school where homophobia was normalised and actually encouraged, and where he was sexually assaulted and where someone threatened to kill him, it was no wonder he was apprehensive.

Blaine wanted to murder anyone that hurt Kurt. He remembers when he first met Kurt. Other than being a terrible spy, he remembers that while Kurt was able to put on a brave and confident exterior, it didn't take long for Blaine to see past that and see the true Kurt; scared and longing for a safe and comforting space.

Blaine tried to be that place for Kurt, he tried desperately, but you can only do so much when you're an hour and a half away. So when Kurt moved to Dalton, Blaine knew Kurt would have his safe space.

"Okay, I'm done." Kurt said, closing his notebook and rubbing his temples, wishing the headache away.

"Do you have any other work to do?"

"I have English homework for the end of the week." Kurt said, sighing.

"You don't need to do anything for the rest of tonight then, just relax." Blaine said, standing up and moving to stand behind Kurt, putting his hands on Kurt's shoulder.

Kurt smiled and leaned back to he could look into Blaine's eyes. "You're probably right."

"Mother knows best." Blaine said, grinning and helping Kurt put his things away.

"So, how was your first day Thad?" Wes asked as Thad sat down at a dining table with his roommates and their friends. If he was being honest, he was going to sit by himself for dinner, not wanting to seem clingy and desperate, but Jeff had gestured wildly for Thad to come over and sit with them, and he didn't want to seem rude.

Thad was sort of grateful for Jeff.

"It was okay, it's just a school I guess, although a very posh and uptight school." Thad said. "A teacher has never given me into trouble for not having my blazer buttoned. Although, to be fair, I've never attended a school with uniform, so that's probably why."

"It's takes some getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it." David said, smiling softly. "All of us were nervous coming here, but we love it now."

"Speak for yourself, I can't wait to get out of here." Sebastian said, stabbing a fork into his dinner.

"He's kidding. You love it here Sebby, don't you?" Xavier said, squishing Sebastian's cheeks with his hand, laughing when Sebastian swatted him away with a mutter of 'get the fuck off of me'.
