The Glow Up

Chapter 4

"Hi, Ladybugs! Welcome to another TikTok video! Today, I'm flying back to Paris, to meet my friends! I won't be coming back to London though... but you can still watch my Tiktoks, the setting will just be in pairs. Shout out to my friends in London, I'll miss y'all! You guys were awesome! Shoutout to my friends in Paris, I'll see you guys soon! Also, check out the view! It's amazing, right? Anyway, I gtg, remember to follow! I love y'all!"

Marinette stops filming and posts her video. 1000 watched it so far. Lots of likes, that was good. She turned off her phone and sighed. She was going to see her friends again! And Tikki! She missed Tikki so much, but she was glad Alya did an amazing job protecting Paris. Marinette did not miss the responsibility of being ladybug, but maybe with fame on her civilian self's side, her life would be better? 

To be honest, Marinette did not expect to be on vouge or to have more than a million followers on Tiktok. But it happened. Alya said that she looks like she had a glow up, but Marinette didn't believe her. "I mean, I look the same, just different outfits," she said. "Yeah... sure, whatever you wanna believe!" said Alya, rolling her eyes playfully.

Then her plane landed. Marinette grabbed her suitcase and practically ran off the plane. She couldn't wait to see her friends. And Adrien... well, now that she was famous, she couldn't keep drooling over him like she used to, she had to look cool. Maybe it was time to get over him. Ugh. Marinette even missed chat noirs puns by now, and now, everything she missed was so so close! 

She called her parents, who went to Paris earlier since Marinette still had to say goodbye to all of her London friends. "Hi, Mom! Hi Dad! I'll be home in an hour or 2, just got off my plane. See you soon! Love you! Bye!" Marinette hung up and broke into a huge smile. She could see the Eiffel tower from here. A familiar sight! She had missed this place. 

A few minutes later someone came up to her. "Hi, aren't you that model that was in the vouge magazine and commercial? Marinette?" "Huh? Oh um... yeah?" "Omg, can I have your autograph?" asked the girl. Then a bunch of other people came up to her. "So cool!" "Wow, a real supermodel!" Marinette took a deep breath. She didn't expect that much fame here.... well she didn't expect to be crowded by people. Oh man, this was going to take forever.... great! 

4 hours later...

Marinette finally made it home, but it was already late. She opened her text messages and sent one to Alya

M: Hi Alya! I'm back! Sorry, it's so late, it took a long time at the airport. I'll see you tomorrow though! Can't wait to see you IRL!

A: Np! Miss u! Actually, you know what, I'm just gonna come by your house to drop of Tikki and to chat! I mean, we really need to catch up!

Marinette closed out of her chat messages and sighed. She had best friends!

She walked out into the balcony and stared at the night sky. She hadn't seen this view in a whole year! 

Then, she heard Alya ring the doorbell.

"Hi, Mrs. and Mr. Dupain-cheng! How are you guys?" "Alya! Hello! WE haven't seen you in ages, Marinette will be thrilled to see you. It is a bit late though..." 

"Alya! Hi!" said Marinette, running down the stairs.

"Mari! Nice to see you again!" Both girls broke into a big smile. "Come on up!" Said Marinette.

Alya sat on Marinette's bed and Marinette sat next to her. "I missed you so so much! Life wasn't the same without you, and gosh, girl, you seriously got a glow up! Are you wearing makeup?" Marinette giggled. "No... but I did get good at it! I could give you a makeover sometime!" 

"Tell me everything! You're famous now! What was it like in London?" asked Alya eagerly, happy to have her friend back and wanting all the tea.

"Well, at first I was lonely, but when I got the job to be a model, I made friends and life became fun again. I got to design my own outfits, model them, design outfits for others, and I even got to be in a movie! It was really fun! Also, I brought you some stuff!" 

Marinette brought out the gift bag she got for Alya. It was the new outfit she got for Alya. Alya also had something for Marinette. She got out Marinette's guardian box and Tikki's miraculous box. "Oh! Thank you Alya!" said Marinette, smiling. She opened the box, and a very confused Tikki popped out. "Alya, why did you put me back in the box I-" Then she noticed Marinette. "Marinette! You're back! I missed you so much! Don't ever leave me again!!!!" said Tikki, trying to hug Marinette but it was more like pinching her cheek softly. Marinette laughed. "I missed you to Tikki! Thank you so much, Alya!" "No problem Bestie!"  said Alya. Marinette grabbed the miracle box and all the kwamis came out. "Master! We missed you!" said all of the kwamis. Marinette put on her earrings again. "Well, I missed you Tikki, but I didn't miss the responsibility. Oh well. Thanks for being ladybug while I was gone! You are an amazing person Alya!" Said Marinette. Alya's phone ringed. "Hi mom!" She said. She listened for a moment, and then hung up. "Well, I got to go Mari! I'll see you at school! Also, I bet Adrien will love your glow up!" She says and winked. Marinette blushed. "Bye Alya!" She said. Alya waved and walked out of the door. Marinette waved and sighed. Her life was normal again. 

She walked out into the balcony again and stared at the night sky. Then she saw chat noir. Oh! I should go talk to him! He probably doesn't know I'm back!" She thought. 

"Tikki, spots on!" 

"Huh, my transformation changed, well that's cool!" Then, she swung her yoyo to reach Chat noir. "Chat, hi!" She said, waving. Chat turned around and did a double take. "Ladybug? Your back? I-" Chat was stunned for a moment, and then he ran to hug ladybug. "Silly cat, I missed you too!" She said, smiling a big smile. "Your costume looks different.." says Chat noir, noticing ladybugs costume change. She looks... better. Different, but in a good way. He thinks.

"Chat? You there?" Says ladybug, waving her hand in front of chat. "Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine!" He says, staring at her dreamily. So beautiful... "Oh well um, I have to go. It was nice seeing you again. I'm looking forward to working together again!" Says ladybug smiling. "Bye m'lady!" Says chat, happy to have his life perfect again. "Bye!" And ladybug swings off into the night.
