Classic music plays in the background as the Mikaelson brothers sit in the living room of the Plantation House, engaging themselves into reading.
Rebekah walks into the room, astonished by her brothers' actions. "So this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family, vampire book club?"
"Reading edifies the mind, sister," Klaus retorts in an uncaring manner, "isn't that right, Elijah?"
"Yes, that's quite right, Niklaus," Elijah agrees as the two brothers continue to carry on reading.
"And what's this business?" Rebekah then asks while pointing at a body lying on the table while blood dripped from around her neck and to the floor.
"This is a peace offering," Elijah answers.
"Well, I presumed after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish," Klaus teased.
"So I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought," Elijah retorts, "I'd simply prefer to see a change in behavior that indicated contrition and personal growth...not this nonsense," he explains as Klaus rolls his eyes at Elijah's words.
"Well, I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?" Klaus smirks as his siblings roll their eyes at him.
"Well, I suppose I'll fetch the rubbish bin because she's staining a 200-year-old carpet," Rebekah points out in frustration before walking off.
As the two brothers continue to indulge in literature, a series of giggles echo through the house before Hayley and Evelyn walk into the living room with big smiles on their faces. Elijah looks up to smile at them, happy to see Hayley feel finally at home, thanks to Evelyn; while Klaus looks at them in a doubtful manner, still not knowing what to think of the new addition to their family secrets.
As Hayley walks into the kitchen, Elijah's eyes follow her and this does not go unnoticed by the two hybrids in the room. They exchange a look as Elijah gets up from his place and follows behind Hayley, causing Evelyn to decide to stay back, giving those two a moment to themselves.
