Kai's Pov
It's late Saturday, and everyone's here already for the barbecue. The kids are running around, inside, and outside of the house, full of laughter, and screaming as well. With Isaac being almost thirteen, he was across the street with the neighbors' kid since he thought the other kids were too little for him.
Everyone's split into about four or five mini-groups. Ariana's by the bonfire, talking with her friends who had just come less than an hour ago. I was busy with Noah, Billie, Aaron, Ronnie, Jade, and Lauren.
It was a very intense game of "Apple Juice" Pong but our side had Orange Juice because it was better than Apple Juice.
And by intense, I meant especially between Aaron and Ronnie. Neither had missed a shot yet and they were both competitive, so I saw this going on for hours. "We should bet," Ronnie said, watching as her shot went in perfectly, once again.
"Oh my God." Jade and Lauren said in unison, deciding to take a seat on the lawn chairs since now the game was really between Aaron and Veronica.
"I have 20," Noah answered, making his next. "I'm not going more than 50 either, last time you had me lose 100."
"Yeah, anyone want a drink?" I chuckled, knowing I didn't want to be a part of this.
Aaron shrugged, waving me off as he aimed his next shot. "I don't know, just bring a round."
"Nah, I'm coming with you, you guys have fun," Billie said with a small laugh, following me into the house.
When we walked inside through the kitchen's sliding doors, I realized that it was too quiet which meant the kids were fully outside now and we were done being inside. I figured they were by the jungle gym since it was nice out and that was their usual hangout spot. When my brothers and I built that, a few years ago, it was the most confusing process ever. The thing collapsed like twice before we got it right.
Just as I started to place shot glasses on a tray, Billie interrupted me, by grabbing my arm. "You don't hear that?" Billie said, slowly starting to smile. "That's our shit, c'mon!" She grabbed my hand, pulling me back outside to where the speaker was.
If I could quit my job and fuck you all day, shit, I would
It took me a second to realize how we used to dance to this song at parties, but Billie knew right away as we danced with each other. This song used to be super popular back when we used to party a lot, in our earlier days. Sometimes it felt like just yesterday, other times, forever ago.
Yeah, I would
"Damn! When were y'all gonna tell us we were supposed to be dancing?" I heard someone yell as everyone started running over to dance before the song was over.
I would
"Shit," I mumbled, my eyes following Billie as the music boomed louder.
"I know, it's hot as hell," Billie said, still dancing with everyone else.
With as many people being there, it was a whole mosh pit when the next song came on.
"MATERIAL GIRL!"
"I WANT CHANEL NINE BOOTS!"
"Nah, you know what should really be on?" Justin smiled, grabbing the phone the speaker was connected to.
"EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE BAD FOR ME, I KNOW."
"YOU'RE THE ONE I'M FUCK—THINKING."
"Frankie, oh my God,"
"GOT ME FEELING SO INCREDIBLE"
"WOULD YOU MIND MAYBE LINKING?"
"LOVE ME, LOVE ME BABY, ARE YOU DOWN CAN YOU LET ME KNOW?"
