Chapter Eight

I've been active again on the site since the school year was coming to an end. I can't believe that I am going to be a senior next school year, but still, I am more than happy to be a step closer in finishing high school.

We are now down to the last month of classes, but honestly, there isn't even much of school work to do because all the requirements were passed a week ago and all we're doing now are extra curricular activities that the school offers. Don't get me wrong, I do join in school activities. It's just that I've planned everything out and that's why I'm having a chill life, just organizing and fixing things a bit here and there.

What I'm worried about though is our cheer dance. The whole high school body is supposed to join. We've been distributed to four teams, each with a hundred and twenty students to participate. Since I'm the team leader for our team, The Giants, I've been preparing since last month. None of my teammates knew how to edit music, so it was my job. Obviously.

I didn't even know how to mix music flawlessly and so I had to stay up in the wee hours of the morning just so I could produce our cheer music. As for the choreography of our dance, I had assigned some people to a portion of the routine so they could make the steps and stitch them together once they were all done. I'm kind of an OCD person so I like to keep my shit together. Unless I'm being a lazy fucker.

I suddenly jolted as I heard a loud ding! ring through my ears. God, sometimes I hate it when I have my earphones on. I always put the volume on max and it scares the shit out of me when I receive a notification or something.

I looked at my laptop and saw that I indeed had a notification over at checkz. A little orange dot was visible at the bell icon, signifying that I had a notification. There was also an orange dot on the messages icon along with the number fifty three on top of it which meant I haven't read those mails yet. I don't even bother to read them because they're all either from thirsty men, cat fishes, or weird freaks who ask me to take a picture of my foot.

No, I am not kidding. Somebody actually asked me, and I actually did take a bloody photo of my foot. Let's just say that the conversation we had after that was very, very weird.

Maybe I would reply with "Hey" to people who chat me up, but that's only because I get ten credits with each reply to a new message. In the site, you can also earn credits by voting for other people or answering their quizzes. The credits are then used to boost your profile up and set you on the popular page or grant you a verified account that could last for two weeks.

I opened the notification tab and saw that someone visited my profile. This is where a verified account would come in handy actually. You see, if someone visits your profile or votes for you, you would be notified, but you can't even stalk them to see if they're hot or not because you wouldn't know their usernames. Only a verified account can see such things.

I sighed and opened a new tab on google chrome. I went on YouTube and searched for funny videos to entertain me for the next hour or so.

Normally when I'm bored, I would be on Kik chatting with Monica because we can talk for hours and hours and never run out of topics. Sense or senseless ones, we discuss them all. I'm guessing that she's out though because my message to her is still a hollow D which means that she isn't online. When it turns to a dark D though, it means that she is.

As for Keziah, well, she doesn't have wifi at her apartment. That's all I need to say. You guys can get it that she's a sad panda.

I spent the next hour laughing at videos of cats who were too fat to even stand until I felt hunger punch my stomach. My phone rang and I saw that Keziah was calling me. I picked it up and answered,

"Yo girl. What's up?"

"Hey Rome. Where are you?" Keziah asked. "I'm at home actually. I'm starving though and I don't think mom cooked any food."

"Well do you wanna hang out and grab some lunch with me?" Lunch? But it was already forty minutes after three o'clock in the afternoon.

"I already had lunch though. Haven't you eaten yet? I was hoping for some snacks." By snacks, I meant two plates of spaghetti and a large coke.

"You can have some snacks while I have some lunch. I've been dying to eat but I don't want to eat alone and I was stuck at my dad's office for three hours! The bill is on me just please, please go with me. I beg you."

Free food? Now that's appetizing.

She didn't need to say no more because as soon as she said that she was paying for our food, I immediately shouted yes over the phone and took a quick shower. I managed to put on a cute outfit which composed of a white shirt and denim pants. I put on my white chucks and tied my hair into a messy ponytail. Lol yes that's definitely cute.

Note the sarcasm.

It's not cute, but simple rather I guess. When I hang out with my friends, I don't bother to dress myself up. I'd rather wear comfortable clothes than make the effort to look like a model who'd get really annoyed by the frilly and shrilly design of their clothes.

By the time I was dressed up and ready to go, Keziah was already outside my house waiting for me. I quickly went down and kissed my mom goodbye and told her I'd be back in no time.

I hopped on Kv's sporty little Honda riding shotgun and soon we found ourselves wound up at McDonald's.

Keziah ordered two spaghettis and a large coke for me while she ordered a chicken fillet mean, large fries and coke for herself. Wow, she must've starved while waiting for her dad's meeting to end. Poor girl.

"So what's going in your life?" Keziah asked me as she was munching on a fry.

"Oh you know. Same stuff. Just prepping up for the cheer dance but aside from that, nothing really. Just doing internet stuff." I laughed. My life is so boring.

"At least the school year is coming to an end! I am so done with school."

"Same." God this spaghetti is delicious. Maybe I should order another one?

"After this I have to go with my parents again. Something about a campaign or something. You know how it is in the political life." Ah yes. Keziah's dad was a politician by the way. It's always a busy life. "Maybe I'll drop you off again at your house after we eat?"

"Sounds great to me. I'll just waste my time on the internet then."

We didn't leave after we ate though. We ordered another round of food which composed of two burgers, two apple pies and two overloaded caramel sundaes. We chatted about boys, celebrities and about one of our school sluts being pregnant (she needs Jesus) and by the time we were done with our gossip session, we were drained of our energy. Not to mention that it was already ten past seven in the evening already! Oh my!

As promised, Keziah dropped me back at home. I thanked her for the treat and for the lovely gossip sesh while she went on to her dad's office again.

The minute I was inside my room, I plopped onto my bed and stretched my limbs out. God, I was so tired.

I checked my phone but there weren't any messages. No surprise in there. I had a very exciting social life after all.

I turned on the wifi on my phone and was bombarded by notifications from Twitter, YouTube and Facebook but nothing was really concerning me. I was changing into my pajamas when I heard a ding! on my phone. That meant I had a notification from checkz. I had the application downloaded on my phone so I didn't have to log into my laptop every time.

I checked my phone and it said:

New message from brokensurfer

Now that's a really cool username. I was instantly intrigued by the person and so I opened the message and it read:

Hey there. I'm Matt from Australia. You look lovely and seem cool. Do you play the guitar too?

Holy shit. He read my profile! Nobody ever reads that on here, much more use it to strike a conversation...

Now I'm really interested.
