XX"Murder?" Repeated Taehyung as he withered.
"Yeah.." his older friend replied with sadness.
"Based on what?" He asked again.
"I don't know, he wouldn't say." Namjoon massaged his temple and then noticed how his phone started vibrating. He took it and answered immediately. "Anna? Oh, yeah of course. I'll be right there honey. Bye..." he put the phone in his pocket and smiled at Eda. "I better go see her."
"Yes, you wouldn't want to lose this opportunity." She glowed wide and shrugged innocently.
Just then, Taehyung flinched at the sudden realization. "Wait! What about your lunch?" He asked her with concern.
She sat up and shook her hand. "It's alright detective, I have to go anyway." She strolled away from him, but soon stopped and spun. "Thanks for the ride, and let me know if you need my help anytime." And with that last glance, she walked out of the pub and took her bike with her, which was leaning on his car.
He watched her every movement, until her form vanished inside her building. Sometimes, he felt he could trust her, while other times, he felt unsure. He had told her everything they knew about Ellen, except for one minor detail. He still couldn't bring himself to inform her about their suspicions of her being possibly pregnant.
But his thoughts traveled to another individual who wasn't aware of the facts yet either.
How am I going to tell Jimin?
With that, another question lingered in his mind. A sudden tingling feeling scurried through his veins only thinking about it. Had he ever considered it? What if the thought of it didn't seem so impossible?
"We were sort of dating.", "We met 4 months ago."
He recalled Jimin's words. But even if had more information on whether Ellen was indeed pregnant, and of how many weeks or months, he still needed to talk to Jimin to confirm his assumptions. But that would only make things more complicated than they were already.
What if... he's the father?
After asking himself that, he unconsciously tightened his fists, and a shivering feeling crossed his body.
In the meantime, Namjoon grabbed his coat and keys, about to leave his pub. He stopped just as his gaze fell on the young man, immersed in his deep thoughts.
"Tae? Aren't you leaving?" He asked with a shrug, but his friend didn't even budge.
He frowned and asked again. "Are you going to stay here locked inside for the rest of the night?"
This time Taehyung raised his eyebrows but still kept his gaze locked on nothing. "Uh? No, babies." He responded without realizing what he had just said.
Namjoon snickered amused. "Yeah, sure. Babies. So, um... does that mean I should start worrying?" He slowly approached him and brought his hand on his shoulder, shaking him a little to wake him up from his trance.
Taehyung flinched and looked at his friend. A sealed smile crossed his lips, but was replaced by a perplexed expression as the realization hit him. "Did you say something?"
Namjoon shook his head in disbelief and heaved. He helped him up and led him to the exit. "You need a nap."
Taehyung scowled. "What? No, I got work to do! What are you talking about?"
"No excuses, go straight home and rest. No investigation can go on with a detective who can't differentiate his thoughts from reality." And with that, he pushed him towards his car and made sure he would agree to his demand.
