"Are you sure that you're fine?" The pink haired girl leans forward with a piercing stare to Kiara, who was lying back on the plush infirmary bed.

"I'm okay, Calli! Please don't worry too much."

A look of overt concern cast on Calli's face. "You say that but I can't exactly believe that you when you're lying there with-- uhm--" She glances down at the striking red tendril-like marks wrapped around her arms.

Seeing her eyes drift there, Kiara instinctively pulls the sheets back to cover them. "It's okay. They hurt a lot less now. But, Calli, did you see where Ina went?"

"Uhm..." Calli glances down to her feet, recalling the girl's awkward exit.

__

Unsuspectedly, Calli walked to the usual place to meet her friends. She was late because of a not-so-pleasant encounter with some other reapers and couldn't wait to meet some friendly faces this morning.

That's when she came to see the disastrous scene.

Kiara was slumped against the wall, unconscious with flames bristling around her wounds. Her hair glowed bright, slowly waving around with the wind as it passed over her slouched body.

Gura, Amelia and Enma surrounded her, standing back from the heat of the flames. They all yelled in anguish, wanting their friend to rise again. Even if they wanted to help, they couldn't. Her phoenix fire was simply too hot to even come close.

Then, there was Ina.

A distraught look on her face despite the hungry golden glow in her eyes. Her arms taut together as she crossed it over herself defensively, never minding the aggressively curling tentacles that swayed slowly that were ready to spring out at anything. Ina stepped back cautiously, noticing the several eyes staring right at her in disgust.

"Ina--?"

With the simple mention of her name, Ina wildly looked at Calli and ripped herself away from the situation, clumsily stumbling in her efforts to get away.

__

"I didn't see her," Calli massages Kiara's hand, pondering hard as she stares at it, "I'm sorry I came late. Maybe I could've--"

"It was expected. I was... unfair to Ina, to say the least." Kiara smiles, not really reaching her eyes as she did, "I should've considered her feelings more." She glances up at Calli, seeing her eyes become glossy and tear-filled.

Noticing her keen interest in her face, Calli attempts to wipe away the tears in her eyes. Just like a hydra, every time she wipes one tear away, more would come after. A gentle touch meets her cheek, silently encouraging her to let it out.

"Kiara... I know that this might sound selfish but I feel like every time some issue comes up within the group, I am somewhat the catalyst. Or even worse, the source of it all."

The phoenix stares in disbelief as Calli becomes overwhelmed, tears streaming down her rosy cheeks as she drowned in her guilt. "Hey, hey, hey. Don't worry it's not your fault," Kiara chuckles humorlessly, "I honestly had some fault with this please don't--"

"--Even now, you're so kind."

At that, Kiara laments on her past actions, stirring in her thoughts. Uncomfortably, she rubs her hands together. "... I selfishly put the burden of my feelings on you guys. You and Ina, not considering your feelings."
