"Baekhyun, is this you?" The familiar voice from the other line is enough to make him lose his strength on both of his legs.
"B-Baekhyun, a-are you there?" The voice sounded unsure after not hearing anything from line. It was because Baekhyun was busy trying to hold back his tears. He needs to get back to work as his lunchtime is already over, so he knows that he just couldn't breakdown right there and then.
"What do you want?" He sounded cold, wanting to let the person know that he's still holding grudges for them.. It's been years, but the pain and trauma still gives Baekhyun nightmares.
"Baekhyun, my son.. Are you still mad at us?"
"What do you want?" He repeated the same question. He doesn't need any of their bullshits now.
"I.. I just want to know how you're doing--"
"I'm doing great. Is that all?" He paused to clench his jaw.
"How about Hannah? I-Is she alright? When will you let us meet her—"
"Why the fvck do you care?" He spat, turning away from the group of people standing from afar. He didn't want his coworkers hear whatever he's about to say.
"You didn't care about us before, right? You didn't give a fvck about me! So why bother now?" He hissed before ending the call and blocking the number. Baekhyun started to worry. His chest feels so tight and it is getting harder for him to breathe.
His grudge was awakened by that simple call and he tried his best not to breakdown.
For years, he lived alone and away from his abusive family. He knows he needed to save himself before he dies from mental exhaustion. All the mocking, the painful words, the disgusted remarks they threw at him the moment he admitted about his sexuality.. all became nightmares that haunts him each night.
So when he got the chance, he ran away from how after getting his college diploma. He lived alone and never looked back.
They didn't look for him either, and he decided it's okay. If they really couldn't accept Baekhyun as he is, then he preferred to live alone.
Until Hannah came.
It was when he was in the darkest days of his life that he decided to finally reach out for his family. He didn't need money, nor anything else other than shoulders to cry on.
That was everything he needed back then..
He travelled back to their old town, praying and hoping that they missed him even just for a bit. But the disgust still remained even after all those years.
The moment he stepped inside their old home, he knew right there and then that he was never welcome there.
As if he was never part of the family.
His mother refused to speak with him, not even for a word. His sister only kept on mocking him—making fun of his situation. She told him that she's right. That Baekhyun being gay will only lead him to ruining his own life.
His father scared him the most. For by the looks of him, it seemed like anytime, he'll be punched and kicked out of the house if he stayed any longer.
He tried to beg, not listening to what his sister was saying. Not minding the cold shoulders from his mother.
"I j-just needed someone to lean on.." He cries.
Afraid that his father might hurt him and the baby in his belly, Baekhyun decided to stop. He stood up, wiped his tears and headed into the door.
