For Felix_my_beloved
___________
Felix didn't like being bothered when he was working. Not because he found the disturbance annoying, but because he was terrible at saying 'no'. Snack break? Of course! Kiss break? Duh! Time to go on a date for the rest of the day when he had something extremely important to get done? He was already in the car!
It wasn't too surprising when he started locking the door to his little home office to try and keep you out. He had had enough of being chewed out by Jack for missing deadlines and a man had to do what a man had to do, even if it meant listening to you complain for hours on end afterwards.
It was two long weeks before you stopped testing the door to check if it was locked. It always was. At least you could trust in the fact that Felix would always return to you as you read in bed at night. His head would take the place of the book in your lap and the two of you would chat for a while before he would crawl up closer and take you into his arms and refuse to let go until morning. He would always be gone when you woke up. He worked far too much for your liking... he was going to burn himself out eventually.
And that day did come, with a lack of Felix at your usual shared bed time.
You set your book to the side on your little bedside table. Perhaps he had just lost track of time? Felix had always been terrible with that, after all. You'd just have to go and remind him.
You pulled back the blanket and swung your legs over the side of the bed, nose wrinkling as your toes touched the cold wooden floor. The room was so much colder when you weren't underneath a blanket. With any luck this wouldn't take too long and you would soon be able to return to your warm bed with Felix in tow. It was that hope that drove you to press onward.
It wasn't long before you stood in front of your most hated door in the house. Felix had picked it out himself. He was a terrible decorator, so you had chosen the look of the rest of the house. However, you had given him free reign over his own office, which lead to him picking out the most hideous door in existence. It was made of a thick oak with swirls and flowers carved into its surface. It stuck out like a sore thumb, sort of like Felix himself.
You lifted a hand and knocked on the door.
Silence.
Absolutely perfect. You puffed out your cheeks in exasperation and eyed the doorknob with a mean glare. Trying it one more time wouldn't hurt, right? You grabbed the cold metal knob and turned it and, surprisingly enough, the door opened with a soft click. Huh. Weird. It didn't stop you for very long though, there was a Felix to be found after all.
You poked your head through the door and were smacked in the face by an all too familiar stench. Alcohol. You paused for only a moment before continuing on into the room. It had been a while since you had been in there. Papers, ties, and empty bottles were scattered around the room. It looked like a tornado had passed through.
In the middle of it all was Felix, sitting hunched over at his desk with his cheek pressed against its wooden surface. Soft snores rumbled in his throat and a small puddle of drool had dribbled from his parted lips and collected on the desk. How... cute....
You shuffled over to him with a quiet sigh, stepping over piles of paperwork as you went to avoid making more work for Felix later. Now closer to him you could confirm your suspicions. He had been drinking. His flushed cheeks said all you needed to know.
The lecture could wait until later, now you had other things to worry about. Such as how you would get him to bed.
You reached out your hands and ran them along his back with a sigh. Why did he always have to cause so much trouble? It wasn't like you minded too much though, but complaining was nice anyway.
Felix groaned at your touch and his eyes blinked open. He looked up at you with a groggy expression, brain not yet fully processing what was going on. Once he finally had, he lifted his head from the desk and wiped the drool from his lips with the back of his hand. "Oh... hi sweetheart," he croaked, "how'd you um- how'd you get in here?" His office chair creaked as he swiveled it around to face you.
You took that as an invitation to plop down into his lap. He didn't seem to mind and just wrapped his arms around you. "The door was unlocked." You lifted a hand to his cheek and he tiredly nuzzled into your palm with a grunt in response. "You coming to bed?"
Felix sighed happily as you started to comb your fingers through his messy hair. "Yeah... yeah sorry. I just uhm-"
You cut him off, "lost track of time?" He chuckled at that.
"Yeah." Felix paused to press a soft kiss to your wrist. His lips tickled against your skin. He hummed happily at the giggles it drew from you. Oh how he wished he didn't have to always keep the door locked.
