Minor tw for blood / a wound 👍

——

Blood. It was everywhere. Spilling over your hands, staining the grass a dark crimson, bubbling from the gash on your knee. Tears rolled down your cheeks, made your eyes sting and your vision blur. Your head felt foggy. This was the end. You were going to bleed ou-

"Calm down, you big baby." Felix knelt down beside you in the yard and gently poked at your fingers until you lifted them from where they had been clamped down onto your wound. "It isn't even that bad." Blood continued to collect around the cut and another drop ran down the side of your knee and dripped down onto the grass to join the first. There was no pool, no staining. Just over exaggeration.

A firm hand grabbed onto your wrist and returned your palm to where it had been previously pressing over the cut. It stung, made your eyes water and you let out a whimper. Felix sighed softly and shook his head. "Keep pressing down on that, let's get you into the house, okay?" You could only nod in agreement, bottom lip quivering too much to form actual words.

If Felix was twenty years younger maybe he would've been able to scoop you up into his arms and whisk you away like in some stupid fairytale. But this was the real world. And he had back issues. So instead he lifted one of your arms and put it around his shoulders and then curled one of his own around your waist to help support you as you shakily got to your feet.

Shame bubbled up in your stomach, made you want to curl into Felix's side and disappear. He had warned you to not run in the yard. It was uneven, scattered with roots from the tree out front. All it took was one to trip you and send you falling right onto another. Your shorts didn't offer any protection from the gnarled bark and your knee was left sliced up and you on the ground.

The two of you hobbled forward, you with one hand clamped over your knee and him trying his best to support as much of your weight as he could. You moved onto the porch, through the front door, into the living room, and finally entered your shared bathroom.

Felix lifted you up onto the cold counter, leaving you there as he rummaged through your cupboards to find the first-aid kit you always kept for accidents like this.

You watched him as he crouched down to look at a lower shelf. He winced. His knees must've been hurting him that day.... That may have partially been your fault for dragging him around the mall all day, but it had been fun so hopefully he wouldn't blame you too much.

Once the first-aid kit had been found, Felix straightened up and set it down beside you next to the sink before turning to get a washcloth.

Felix was as gentle as he could manage as he pulled away your hand and started to clean the blood from your palm and the wound on your knee. Occasionally you'd wince from the pain and he'd pause, kiss your nose, and continue with the same gentleness as before. It was reassuring how focused he was on you, eyes constantly flicking up to your face to make sure you were alright.

Once your wound was fully cleaned, Felix started to go through the kit to find a suitable bandaid.

"Do we have any fun ones?" you asked softly. Felix glanced at you out of the corner of his eye, fingers going still as he rummaged through the bandages.

"Not any that are big enough." You puffed quietly in dissatisfaction, lifting an arm to wipe the moisture from your still damp face. "But I think I might have some stickers Molly gave me laying around somewhere...." That seemed to cheer you up a bit, which reassured Felix.

He was just as careful with the bandage as he was with the cleaning, gently pressing it down and smoothing it over your skin so it lay flat. His hands were cold, you had to hold back a shiver.

"There, all better." He straightened up a bit and readjusted his glasses on his face. "Want help getting to the living room?"

You shook your head and reached out your arms. "No, I'll be okay. Wouldn't mind a bit to get down though."

Felix gave a small smile and lifted you from under your arms to lower you to the floor. He held you as you tested walking and was about to let go when you sandwiched his face between your hands and gave him a long kiss with an exaggerated 'mwah!' at the end. His hands twitched against your sides and his nose scrunched up slightly as it quickly started to turn a deep shade of red along with the rest of his face.

"Thanks for fixing me up."

He squeaked out a soft, "no problem, dear," after a few more lighter kisses from you. "I'll um-" he cleared his throat nervously as you pulled your hands from his burning face, "I'll go and get those stickers for you."

==+==

You stretched out against Felix's chest with a soft grunt, making him chuckle and shake you a bit with the vibrations. It was lovely, being able to lay together on the couch like that and sap away his body heat for yourself. He certainly made a comfy pillow.

You shivered as you felt his always chilly hands run down your back. "How's your knee?"

Your eyes slowly blinked open and you tilted your head to look up at him. "Better. 'Cause of the stickers." Felix let out a quiet puff at that and you shifted so you could wrap your arms loosely around his neck.

"Glad they could be put to good use." He was doing that thing he always did where he was trying to pretend like he wasn't pouting. The slight crease in his brow always gave him away.

You snickered quietly and kissed his chest, earning you a perturbed grunt. "I guess you did help a lot too. Maybe even a teensy bit more than the stickers."

"Gee thanks."

You both remained silent after that, the quiet droning from the tv being the only sound left in the room.

Your face scrunched a little as you thought. "Hey, Felix?" He looked down at you and gave a soft hum in response. "Would you still love me if I was a worm?"

Utter bewilderment filled his eyes. What was the correct answer to a question like that? Was there even a correct answer?

"Uh... no?"
