Chris's POV
That Same NightThe ambulance arrived at the local hospital, pushing me into the emergency room. We get to the room, the pain in my leg returning. Two middle aged nurses were putting needles in my arm, pumping it with a clear liquid attached to a bag. I lay my head back, looking up to the ceiling as the two nurses as well as the doctor left the room. My leg was still in pain, however the drugs were finally kicking in.
20 minutes Later...
"Mr. Denton? Hello, my name is Dr Brown. Nice to meet you." He says, shaking my hand softly
"Hey Doc. Ow..."
"Yeah I have some bad news about you're leg. Unfortunately it nearly snapped in half, thankfully it didnt however. The problem is even with surgery, your leg will take about 6 to 7 months to fully recover. I would recomend that you get the surgery. If you let it heal naturally, not only would you be in excruciating pain, it would also take an additional 2 to 3 months on to your 6 to 7 month recovery plan." He replys
"6 to 7 months even with the surgery? I guess that I have no choice but to do the surgery, I'd rather be out 7 months than 10. Uh, did wwe contact you on the surgery costs or is it something that I have to cover on my own?"
"Dont worry about costs Mr Denton. I was contacted by your boss, Paul Levesque. All costs of surgery and any further medication or therapy will be covered by them. I will need you to sign some papers agreeing to the surgery and recovery plan."
"Yeah of course. Thank you for explaining this stuff to me Doc. I forget things pretty easily."
"No problem. It's my job to make sure you feel comfortable and safe with the procedure your about to go through with. Thank you for signing those papers. There are some guests here to see you, should I send them in here now or at a later time?"
"Um, you can send them in now. Thank you."
"Ok. They will be in shortly."
I lay on the pillow, thinking of my injury. I'm glad that I'm able to have surgery but I'm not happy of the time I'll miss away from the ring. The door opens suddenly, in comes Keku.
"Hey man, jeez is everything ok?" Keku asked, pulling a chair next to the bed.
"Uh well, I've got good and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?" I ask
"The bad news."
"Ok. So the doctor says my leg is broken, nearly snapped the damn thing in half. He says I'm lucky that I didnt snap if half. If that happened, I would have had to retire and possibly could have gotten it amputated."
Keku's eyes went wide, clearly shocked at what I had just said to him. It was a shock to me as well.
"Fuck. I assume your going through with the surgery?"
"Yeah I have to. I dont want my life to be fucked up for my future family. I just have too much on my mind right now." I say, rubbing my forehead
"Demi asked about you."
"What?"
"Well she didnt really ask about you, I told her that I was gonna see you and she said good luck. Who knows what that means anymore."
"Is she ok?"
"Yeah I think she is, why?"
"I dont know, I was rude to her last time we all saw eachother. I feel bad."
"Dont feel bad, she was being an asshole that day. You both were kinda in the wrong. Something has to break, eventually."
"I guess so, but the problem is I dont know why shes doing this Keku. That's what's bothering me the most. I dont have anything to go off of. I know those memories and experiences werent fake man, I fucking lived through those."
"I dont like it. Whatever shes doing, it's wrong on so many levels. I really want to find out why."
"Well if you find anything out, let me know. Who knows, maybe she'll feel more comfortable talking to you than me."
The door opens slowly, to reveal Raquel Gonzalez, a fellow NXT Superstar. She walked in sitting next to Keku.
"Hey Chris, Keku. Is everything ok with your leg?" She asks
"Uh well, it's not as horrible as I thought it was. Thankfully I wont have to retire."
Keku leans over a bit, whispering something into Raquel's ear, her eyes widening as she looks back at me.
"You would have had to retire if you didnt agree to the surgery? Am I hearing that correctly?" Raquel asks
I nod my head, rubbing my eyes.
"I'm just lucky that you guys are here for me, unlike some people I know." I say, rolling my eyes
"Dude just forget about Demi for now. She'll come around soon enough. Your health should be your number one priority, not a friend's memory issues." Keku says
"I agree with Keku. I've known Demi for about two months now, I'm happy to call her a friend. Whatever is going on with her, its internally. Sadly I dont think any of us can do a thing about it. It's something she has to do on her own." Raquel says, looking down
"Yeah well I cant let it go Keku, that was my best fucking friend. We were even closer than me and you are now. It's not that easy to move on, even when I'm like this. I care more about her than I do myself."
Fuck.
"You care more about Demi than yourself? What are you trying to say?" Keku asked
"Shes like a sister to me. We got really close back then, that's why it hurts."
"Look I understand how your feeling and it hurts me as well. I just think you need to forget about her for now. It's not like she wont be here when you get back. Like it or not, she isnt here for you right now, I am. So is Raquel, Scarlett and Shotzi. Focus on yourself and the people who actually care about you."
"I guess your right. Fuck, you know what, just tell me if something crazy happens with her, like a revelation of some sorts. I'd love to keep talking with you guys but I think I'm gonna get some sleep, it's been a rough day. I'll see you guys whenever."
And with that, Keku and Raquel say goodbye, leaving me alone in the room. I lay my head on the pillow, pulling the blankets up to my neck.
"Oh well, Demi can wait, it's time for the long road ahead of me. It's time for Recovery" -Chris
