They wanted to meet these monsters bit everyone said that they'll just gobble you up and digest you alive. That made Y/n mad, not believing that garbage and wanted to prove them wrong about the monsters not killing humans." Why won't anyone just about it for a second? They can't judge people just like that! Besides, what if these 'monsters' are actually nice?" They blabbered in and on about how they, the monsters, are not what others thought they were.
