You were sitting in the middle of your bed, holding a small pumpkin in your lap. It was about the size of a baseball and it was bright orange.
The pumpkin in one hand, and your paintbrush in the other, you were trying to cover up most of the original orange color with a nice shade of pastel green. When you bought it, you already could tell that it was way to small to actually carve something detailed into it, opting for paint instead.
Focusing, tongue stuck out like a little kid when they concentrated, you worked the paint brush around the entirety of the orange gourd, completely covering it in the sticky looking color. You really wanted this to look good. Not just for your personal satisfaction, but for your boyfriends. You laughed quietly to yourself. The word 'boyfriend' sounded dull compared to what Loki was. A God. Your God.
You smiled at the, now green, pumpkin, reaching over to your nightstand to clean the small brush. You avoided getting anything on your clean white shirt, thinking of what to paint on the small thing in front of you. You debated on asking Loki himself, but that would ruin the surprise. And you desperately wanted to surprise him.
See, you were in a bit of a bad mood this morning. You recalled having a conversation with the team this morning about Fall.
You were with the avengers, all in the common area of the tower relaxing after a small mission.
"So guys. Its fall." You started.
Everyone looked to you, waiting for what you were going to say next. You let out a sigh "Pumpkins, apple cider, a warm fire?" You were about to continue, until Tony interrupted. "We all know what Fall means." You blushed and looked at your lap. Maybe you should just stay quiet. Besides, who would want to go out and do all the normal fall things, when they have the comfort of the tower and technology?
A cool hand placed itself on your knee. "Go on." Loki beckoned, making everyone freeze. He rarely spoke around all of them, let alone touched you when they were all present. The avengers barely trusted him, but that small smile was on his face, making you smile back. His smile for you and only you.
"Erm, well, I was thinking maybe we could carve pumpkins? If you guys wanted to?" You asked, looking around the room at each of them, awaiting an answer.
Natasha shook her head, looking back at the gun she was cleaning.
Clint, who was sitting next to her, gave you an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I'm saving that for my kiddos. The missus would kill me if I started early." He gave a small laugh.
You nodded, looking across the room at Tony and Bruce. "Well?" You asked them.
Tony shrugged. "Not tonight kid, me and pepper have a date planned. She'll be here any minute."
Bruce sighed. "I really wish I could, but I'm working in the lab for the remainder of the day."
You looked back down into your lap and played with a frayed edge of your jean.
Steve wasn't present at the moment, and Thor was in the kitchen currently eating a box of pop-tarts. He had probably missed the whole interaction entirely.
Loki noticed your sad state, and rubbed your knee slightly. "Don't worry love, I'll carve a pumpkin with you. Whatever that is." He brushed your hair back.
